Ajax today announecd signing some defender named Luis Orejuela. This makes sense.

I think he is a right back so I wouldn't look in to it too much. Although it would potentially free up Veltman to move back into a centre back role

There's no way we will pay 35m for a young CB from Ajax, unless Levy misunderstood the numbers and thought it was 3.5m.

If he teaches him how to defend, he could.
I didn't say he's shit. Just that right now, he's being overrated because of his strength and speed.

I'll stand up for you - I did note the same point as you when I watched a video yesterday. That he is raw and his positioning needs work because he seemed to keep getting caught too high and have to use his insane physical traits to recover, admittedly making some terrific last ditch tackles in the process.

The elements of a physically imposing defender are there, he just needs fine tuning to a degree.

Having said that he seems far enough along in his development, and with enough potential, to be thrown in at the deep end as it were and learn on the job, playing alongside a generally tremendous defence

Tottenham in talks over £35million move for Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez as they line up first summer signing

Spurs are set to break their transfer record with a move for the twice-capped 21-year-old

Tottenham are in talks to sign £35million Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez .

The north Londoners were last night confident of landing the coup that would shatter their transfer record and produce the perfect response to their critics.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is understood to be in Amsterdam trying to thrash out a deal for the twice-capped 21-year-old who has made himself one of the most sought-after defenders in Europe.

England left-back Danny Rose expressed concern this week that the club would once again target “players you have to Google”.

But Sanchez was the Ajax Player of the Year last season and shone in the Europa League Final, despite his side losing to Manchester United.

Before joining the Dutch giants he was a member of Nacional’s 2016 winning team in the Copa Libertadores.

The versatile defender is able to play at centre-back or right back and would further strengthen a backline that established itself as the best in the country last season.

Might be one of those where papers are a bit behind and he's actually signed already.
Or maybe it's all about to collapse at final hurdle again.

While it's exciting, CB is really not a position where we need to spunk £35m

It is if we want to play 3 at the back regularly over the season. Wimmer has looked uncomfortable in that formation and I am not sure CCV is up to the standard we require to compete for title and CL

The player they announced is a RB and the Ajax fans that are tweeting me are saying we'll have to spend over 40 million to get him

We'd have 4 excellent options at centeback if this happens. Last season, if one of our CBs was injured, we had to play a back 4 as Poch didn't trust Wimmer or CCV. This allows us to play 3-4-2-1 every game if we want to.

This guy, Mahrez and Barkley and we'll shut up our detractors and Danny Rose
