To go through a window where we don’t end up weakened in a key position by the end of it.

I know this is a wishlist for the deadline day that has passed but I hope we target the following players in Jan/Summer. I feel like they all fit the young, up and coming with lots of potential type we seem to be going for:

CF - Benjamin Sesko
WF - Johan Bakayoko
AM - Eberechi Eze (last year of contract in the summer and a Base player)
CM - Arthur Vermeeren
CB - Lloyd Kelly (sounds like we will go back in for him)

Adding the above would really give us a young quality team and most importantly good depth.

I hope we'll be using Johnson on the right so that we can finally get some of those low crosses into the box which has been essential for Postecoglou in the past and the first thing he drilled into the team in pre season.

Tell us more about Arthur vermeeren. Is he a good candidate for the Bissouma role (where we need additions)?

I do wonder if we have decided to hold fire on a 9 to watch players like sesko, orban, Ferguson, David make progress knowing that we could drop a significant offer on the table if we desired (wishful think I’m sure)

I hope we will go back in for Connor Gallagher regardless although I do like Eze a lot

at cb I would like a look at todibo if we’ve moved on from Tapsoba. Ive got no problem with Lloyd Kelly being the other cb but I hope we are able to add two cbs. Again, I understand this may be wishful thinking with both Sanchez and dier going into the last 6 months of their contracts

Vermeeren is an 18 year old DM that has broken through the youth team to the 1st team at Royal Antwerp. He has fantastic passing, can dictate the tempo of play within a team, he is really good at reading the game and breaking down the oppositions play. He doesnt have the dribbling of Bissouma but he could sit as the 6 and fit in our system perfectly. If you have time watch a few YT clips of him to get a slight look at his style of play.

He is being tracked by some big clubs including Barca so if we did go for him we would need to get a move on.

Thank you. Sounds like a good one, wonder if he’s seen as a similar option to the likes of redondo and moscardo in South America?

@Ghost Hardware @delawarespur @jpascavitz any further views on these players?

Yeah they are all similarish in regards to profile. I’d say maybe Redondo is better in regards to passing + vision, specifically long balls but he’s also older and maybe not as agile and smooth with ball at his feet. That’s my read from the few games I’ve seen of them at least. They are all very very raw tho, I mean Moscardo is only 17! Considering his age and skill set he’d probably be the one to go for but Chelsea will get him I’m sure. Advantage of getting him is if you get him from 18 and keep him in the uk he would be classified as HG by 21. And if we kept him at the club he’d also be club trained iEther way they are all very good young options for sure.

As for the other players, Sesko is beyond our reach, he only just joined Liepzig (he scored 2 on the weekend). He’s incredibly highly rated by them so if they eventually sell it will be for a lot unless he flops of course. We were linked to him before but he was always going to end up at Liepzig. Would have been a great buy mind.

Bakayoko is another that looks very promising but still very raw. He’s only played something like 30 games in the Eredivisie. He will certainly be one to watch this season but it’s a little early to get too excited by him imo. Physically he’d suit the pl well but time will tell.

Personally I’m still of the impression we should try and line up a deal for Nico Williams for next summer if we still need a winger. He’s been playing off the left this season and already has 4 assists. He’s incredibly versatile and is natural on ether wing. After all one would hope that Johnson and Kulu will have the RW on lock down this season so going for Bakayoko might not make the most sense.

Reportedly Leipzig had put a £60mill price tag on Sesko when Utd came calling (before they bought Hojlund). If that cost is correct then he isnt out of reach but 1 more good season for them and I suppose he will be.

I saw the rumours but I don’t think I saw one from a reliable source or even one from Germany. But if you did I’d be curious to read as I’d be dumbfounded if they would even think about it considering he hadn’t even kicked a ball for them until a few weeks ago. Would surely have to be some sort of other reason. Leipzig are certainly not a club in financial need as far as Im aware.

Sesko is considered one of the biggest young CF prospects around (I mean he scored a hat trick in 28 mins in his first pre season game for liepzig) and Leipzig have been planning to make him an important part of their team once he finally moved. They really believe he could be the next Haaland. Or at least they did. Considering he only just joined the squad this summer and has been looking very very good I’d think they would be looking for more like £80 + mil come next summer if they were even to consider selling him.

Buying from Leipzig is just not a realistic endeavour for a club like us anyway. They tend to like large fees upfront from everything I’ve read

I agree tho, hypothetically he would be great but I honestly think he’s well beyond our reach unless he has a bad season.

As an aside as he’s on loan at Liepzig, I’m going to be very curious to see what happens to Simons when he returns to PSG, I’m honestly not sure how they will find space for him. Next summer it might be worth seeing who of that front line is considered surpluses to requirements. Simons would be an incredible pick up if he doesn’t have a spot.
