Reportedly Leipzig had put a £60mill price tag on Sesko when Utd came calling (before they bought Hojlund). If that cost is correct then he isnt out of reach but 1 more good season for them and I suppose he will be.
Not sure how accurate that can be when he literally signed for Leipzig in July?

Technically they bought him last summer but yeah it makes very little sense ether way
Yeah. Sesko will go for at least 100m to chelsea next summer.
Only way I could see us being involved is if we got some decent money for Richie and we are back in the champions league, have actually sold ndombele to Galatasaray, Rodon, tanganga and regs all get sold and either spence comes back as a player with emerson sold (which I think will happen if he isn’t a starter as he’s a big sellable asset).
We would likely then have a very very good budget and be able to go big on 2-3 players to complete our squad. That should be a striker to rotate with Son, like you said ideally nico Williams or bakayoko.
We would likely then only need a cb which I’m assuming is sorted in jan, ideally Phillips had stepped up too, then maybe a LB to compete with Udogie depending on how sess gets on post injury.
Then our squad is in a very good place

With the departure of Tanguy & Sanchez, where do we now sit in terms of registering players for the season?

Just trying to work out what will happen with Dier & Lloris.

We've space for Dier if we want to register him. Ange made it clear Hugo wouldn't be.

I just don't see how he registers Dier now with him not making one single squad yet. I think he would play Phillips, Davies, Emerson & Dorrington in front of him. Maybe I'm wrong but I thought the message was pretty clear.

so we now have 15 non-HG players excluding Lloris and Dier. but Sarr and Udogie would be non-HG next season, so we still need to shift a few if we want to sign non-HG players next season (Perisic would be out of contract next season though)

Can't see PEH and Gil being here next season, so that takes care of 2 non-HG spots for Sarr & Destiny. Perisic and GLC could probably leave depending on how everything goes this season.

interesting. Really highlights:
- the importance of a good youth team, so you organically keep the balance in a good place
- that you MUST not just accumulate peripheral non HG players
- the inevitability of inflation in HG players. If you can get really good ones, they’re gold dust

that's why Chelski taps up teenagers from foreign leagues so that they stay long enough to be qualified as HG. its a shame that Sarr, Udogie and Veliz would not qualify as HG, and I am still fuming that we didn't go for Scott...

Pretty good bet that PEH and Perisic will both def go. Then Gio i would imagine unless he really impresses and earns himself a new contract (currently runs out in 2025) which being realistic will be hard considering how limited his game time will likely be. Gil also will likely have to impress in order to stay. Personally I think there’s also a reasonable chance we look to sell Richy next summer.

What’s also worth keeping in mind is Son only has two years left on his contract. Now I think there’s very little chance we sell him next summer, I certainly hope we don’t, but I’m not sure if the club will be offering him even a 1 year extension considering his age. Probably be a decision that’s left right to the end.

Loans aside I think come next summer we will actually be in a pretty good place come non HG. The tricky situation will be club trained players if we get into Europe as 4 of our 8 will have to be if we want to max out the squad.

Tbh as far as strikers go I’d still like us to try and get Lautaro. I know some don’t rate him but he currently has 5 goals in 3 games and he is the third highest goal scorer in Europe in 2023 only 1 behind Mbappe and a few behind Haaland.

If we did include him the season we got him and loaned him back you’re right he should. I didn’t realise we did.
Me either but I think I read someone else said we did. Would love clarity on it because it’s a game changer if he is

I think that has been in the club’s mind for a while - picking up Devine, Phillips, Keeley, Ashcroft and Sayers whilst releasing swathes of players that some youth watchers thought we might hang on to historically. I wouldn’t be surprised if we looked at the likes of Edwards, Binks, Walker-Peters or Cirkin to alleviate this issue.
