He needs to play off of a target man to see the best of him now. He's at his best in and around the box. He doesn't fit in here anymore.
He was awesome for us when our system was to get the best out of him. That Tottenham doesn't exist anymore and he's the one who doesn't fit into the way we play now.
I'd rather sell him for a decent fee and bring in a top CB. It would benefit the team much more than even a peak form Dele as our system now wouldn't get the best of peak form Dele. I don't see peak form Dele happening here now though.
He looked lost last night and I can't see him finding his way back into the team for a long time. He might get a chance again if we pick up injuries, but I think he's pretty much done here which is a shame after some of the brilliant moments he's given us, but you can't live off past glory.
He'd probably do well at Burnley or Southampton.
Thing is IF you are out of form and out of the team you do something about it. Bare minimum is maximum effort. Bust a gut to win the ball back, and at least you show the manager you want it. That isn't affected by what position you are being asked to play.
Dele is still meandering around like he rules the roost. Little output, accompanied by little effort equals a sure fire way to be moved on, and I can very much see this being the case now.
Didn’t think his effort or passes were too bad. But he fluffed 3 opportunities with wrong decisions and looked to be gassed by the end of the half. You can’t win with a player like that in the center of your attack. It still looks like he has no clue how to play vs a packed defense either.
Think his time with us will be coming to an end in the next 12 months or so.
You see, if he'd not shown a less-than-mature overall demeanour (let's say) over the last few months and in AON then I think we'd be more forgiving. They weren't wrong decisions they were a refusal to pass to Bale. Bale clean through on the left chance at a clear finish on his left foot that would have got him up and running and got his confidence going and Dele tries to reverse it between 5 players. That was a clear sign of petulance and bitterness at a bigger star coming in and putting his place under pressure. Not a team player.
I think maybe not having fans is also hindering Dele when opposition fans boo'd him etc he used to feed off it and I think he fed off our fans singing his name so maybe he's lost the adrenaline rush of having fans in the stadium which has made his form even worse.
I think if he was coming off the bench to a rousing sing of we've got Alli! We may see a different Dele.
But something is clearly not right mentally with him something has got a grip of him you do not go from being one of the worlds best young talents to this in such a short space of time he was an arrogant little bastard now he is a lost boy.
It seems like a chain of events with him and I really do think its the club responsibility to help him here.
1) His mother hitting the press with loads of shit about him
2) Then his dad hitting the press as well
3) He had a cheating issue with his girlfriend Ruby Mae they split then got back together
4) Hamstring Injury
5) He got burgled an help at knife point etc.
6) The Dier bromance has seemed to fade away and its rare to see Dele smiling these days.
7) He probably feels a little bullied by Jose - but its strange as he was the main man in Jose's early days
It all makes me think are we seeing a player struggling with his mental health, there is rumours swirling about him not being able to sleep etc as well its all a bit worrying.
I think us as fans also owe him some loyalty where we can try and gee him up although I think he is done here I want what's best for the kid as he really is a great guy.
Who's Steve Peters?Dele is playing with fear. He needs to hire Steve Peters or someone of his ilk

Agree. I just think the biggest issue for him is putting in the extra technical training. His basic game is so lacking. If he takes time away from his brand to focus on this he willGood post. He's certainly talented, seemed to have a good head on his shoulders, and has a good heart. I remember the random low-key visits he did to people who were ill without any fanfare. He just seems a genuinely good lad. Personal issues are likely the cause for the dive in his football. It's such a shame. I hope he's able to pick himself up, whether with us or elsewhere. He's given us many good memories. That Crystal Palace goal will always be one of the best I've ever seen.
Dele needs to play as a 2nd striker imo as his all round game isn’t good enough as a midfielder.
Think it’s best to let him go in January now as he is not getting any minutes with us
Lol well sometimes we do play a bit long and slow in a prog rock style. We’re just missing Jose or Levy dressed up as Rick Wakeman.Who's Steve Peters?
EDIT: That sounds like the second-album title for a 70s prog-rock band. "Who's Steve Peters? Out now on vinyl!"
