If there’s one thread we shouldn’t be in this season, it’s this one. The manager was backed in the summer amid a pandemic. Don’t get me wrong we need more signings to finish building the team in his image but Levy gave a hell of a lot to support Jose last summer.

agreed. Levy backed Jose this summer much more than anyone expected. The financial situation the whole industry is in currently is unprecedented, so we did well this summer.

the only way we get more than that now, is if some mega billionaire oligarch gets us.

its up to the coach and players now.

I think the problem is time after time we see players needing time to settle and start to contribute consistently.

Yet many fans constantly want new signings to save that season.

Just saw on twitter that before REGGY, our last defender signing was in 2015 (Alderweireld).

Beyond criminal...

You deserve pelter for not only believing that but not doing your own research into thinking that it's true

February 2001:

Spurs have won two cups in the preceding fifteen years. The manager, who did well at one of our main rivals when he was younger, appears past his best and is overseeing some truly awful football. The team, which contains an Irishman called Doherty and a Welshman called Davies, has lost its way. The fans are desperately unhappy. The fifty-something chairman hands over the reins to a bright young thirty-something, who promptly gives the manager the old tin-tack. The fans have hope again. False hope, as it turns out, but still hope.

Now I'm not saying ENIC out or Levy out. Levy has done some wonderful things for this club and, as much as I hate the proposed European super-league, the fact that we're now perceived as one of the 'big six' and pencilled in to be part of it, should it happen, is down to him and him alone.

However, February sees the twentieth anniversary of Levy becoming chairman and, if I can draw the parallels above, then so can the press. He'll get some well-deserved praise, but he'll get some well-deserved stick too. And, although, ultimately, that makes little difference since ENIC aren't going anywhere as far as we know, we've seen in the past how Levy deals with whispers about his performance as chairman. And it's not through him losing his job.

I'd normally expect Mourinho to ride out the storm, and for Levy to back his man, but I do wonder if the anniversary in February will crank up the pressure on both men. Could be an interesting month...

Levy let this all go stale & we've been seeing the effects of it the last 2 years. As many as 10 players are past there sell by dates. 10! That's where the problem is. And that is the fault of Levy.

Think we had enough stories saying that we had money to spend but as Poch wanted only for examples De Jong or Ndombele who werent avalaible this summer that was the reason we didnt sign anyone.
Believe what you want. I'm sure Poch didn't want to sell a single player either. I blame Levy 80% for that Summer.
