Ah, I see now. So we were close to selling Eriksen then in the summer window? Why did Bruno have a medical lined up and we had agreed a fee ... That doesn't make sense to me, sorry.

genuine question, what do you think happened then?

None of it really makes sense to me either:LOL: however them being hopeful they could force Eriksen out and not being able to seems logical to me.

Imagine that - all those years of selling our best players off and the one fucking time Levy doesn't fuck the manager over it fucks shit up ... Sweet irony.

Edit: choice of words here are the most extreme take on this situation, well aware there is some debate about selling our best players off vs those players wanting to leave ... Words eh?

In the summer it was a case of Dybala VS Bruno, and Dybala dragged on till deadline day so AFAIK we didn't have time to conclude the Bruno deal after that.

This is just what I gathered at the time given the ITK we received, it may have gone down slightly different to that but it is the gist of things.

Ah I didn't consider this.

I thought we were signing Bruno if I am honest the night before deadline day. Could have sworn there was noise about a fee and a medical lined up for him. Even the journo in Portugal seemed to hint at it. The bit I missed (clearly) is the Eriksen thing.

Clearly I have crossed the Gio thing finally coming to pass and the Bruno thing not happening and not factoring in Eriksen wanting to move to Inter in the January transfer window because the teams he wanted to move to had zero interest in him.

It was all a bit confusing. We were a gnats cock away from signing Dybala but just had a couple of small things to get over the line. Which we proved when we returned and just tied up the deal quickly in January...
So Dybala was the one?

Ah ...

Does this affect the renewal of season tickets this coming summer?

What worries me about this meeting and the way the minutes are portrayed is the first sentence “The board and the trust have signed off the following as an accurate account...”, that doesn’t even mean they are accurate, just that everyone agreed to put their signature on it!

It's quite obvious to me.

Eriksens move failed to materialise so therefore so did Bruno's to us. That and the fact the bonus move for Dybala was looking likely right up until deadline day.

Very well made excuses by DL I am afraid. And I wait to see what happens in the summer when the (list) is given to him. His methods are dated imho. And that is educated opinion. Hearing failure to make CL will impact our budget etc. Putting all things in perspective, covering the last 2-3 years when we were in it, seems to suggest an excuse for everything. Only way I see a major spend is selling Kane in 12 months for say 150m. Spending that plus a few extra pounds on top to placate the fans. Ofcourse my own opinion.

Nah, it doesn't necessarily hide a controversy. It just is what is says.

I never knew there was a move in the offing though - must have been waiting for Stoke.

It's quite remarkable that we are in the top 10 richest clubs, when we have not won our domestic league for nearly 60 years..
What good is it to be in the top 10 if you're not going to spend any of your income on the team?

It's like having a barber shop on the steps of a guillotine. For what?

Blimey, we don't half come close to some tasty big name signings only for stuff that's out of our control to fuck them up. It's an episode of The Twilight Zone right there, waiting to be made.
