I’m sure he will be annoyed he doesn’t have a player in good form available as I’m sure we all are. It’s also possible to though be annoyed he is banned understand why he was banned and not have a victim mentality about it.
LOL yeah he'll be holier than thou and take heed of the virtue of those on SC ?

They've really made a rod for their backs here. Undoubtedly a black player will be racially abused in future and do exactly what Dier did, and they'll have to ban him for it.

Makes you wonder how much abuse players get in their daily lives actually. Dier says he gets it in the stadium, online and from people passing in cars. All a bit strange really.
Sadly I expect it really is very common, whether from opposition fans or our own. Imagine if an easily recognisable opposition player (David Luiz?) was spotted in his car by a Spurs fan; maybe 1% would decide to shout something at him that could be deemed either jokey or abusive. That's gonna add up to a heck of a lot of incidents over time. And we can see stuff that would easily be considered online abuse from folk here and on Twitter every game (and I absolutely know I'm included in that on occasion! - I don't think it's particularly harmful for people to let off steam in that way)

I'm really not witty enough to come up with something and I suspect most people aren't.

One thing this ban does do is show us how short we are at centeback. We definitely need at least one in during the summer.

well in my opinion they are both a clear breach of FA rule E3, which is what Dier has been charged with breaching:

‘a participant shall at all times act in the best i terests of the game and shall not act in any manner which is improper or brings the game into disrepute or use any one, or a combination of, violent conduct, serious foul play, threatening, abusive, indecent or insulting words or behaviour’.

so yes, i think grabbing someone by the throat breaches that rule, and are therefore comparable.

You think a throat grab on another player is the same as running into the stands...think about that for a second.

It's all about the precedent, flare ups happen in matches, players running into the stands just cannot be justified.

How convenient what with the NLD coming on Saturday, why didn’t they do this at the same time as Dele’s...

Well apparently in this case the bloke came up with "fucking wanker" and "absolute ****", so I guess you don't need a degree in creative writing

And definitely yes, especially with Jan far past his best and probably leaving, and Foyth out of favour. Let's hope it's someone better than the Phil Jones option...

Because they had to wait until after the police investigation, then had to refer to an independent commission since it's an unusual case with no direct precedent, which itself had delays because of Covid, and then Dier asked for them to wait while he tried to get access to evidence from police interviews (and actually wanted them to wait even longer)

where did i say the same? comparable by the letter of the law Dier has been charged with, yes.

but not the same. you don’t know that meaning of ‘same’ and ‘comparable’ aren’t identical don’t you?

Either way it's not comparable

Just read the FA report and based on that it makes sense why he got 4 matches, the Guendozi incident was a load of handbags

I reckon the fan will end up getting banned by the club.
Agreed, although I hope it isn't lifetime. Let's face it, swearing at players is hardly uncommon. It was unfortunate it turned out the way it did.

I just hope the scummy red tops don't give out the guy's name. He's and idiot and made a mistake but he doesn't need to face public scrutiny and have his life ruined.

what I don’t understand is why the fan was running at Dier that game, he was perfect that night.

I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and suggest he was drunk of his tits, angry, and looking for a scapegoat!

Absolutely. Especially now it's clear that it was Dier's brother who grabbed him and started the real trouble, not the other way round, and that he then tried to avoid confrontation and climbed over seats to get down the exit gangway as quickly as possible. What he's done is no worse than what thousands of fans do at every single professional football match in this country. If anyone deserves a long-term ban out of this it's actually Dier's brother to be honest.
