Would be one of the best signing if the summer. Between him, Toby and Sanchez, we really only need to look at signing an up and comer and giving Tanganga more game time, and can focus our transfer approach elsewhere other than CB.

Personally think he should be club captain.

Yes, I know, disagrees etc, but it's just an opinion.
Lloris and team are beginning to flourish under Mourinho. I like Dier and understand why he would be considered as captaincy material, but I'm not sure it would be a good move in the short-term to take the captaincy away from Lloris.

Anyway - great news that Dier has signed a new contract!

Good to get him nailed down. Looks like he starting to get some form back and looks comfortable being back at CB. Natural leader on the pitch too. The type of mistakes against Utd and sheff Utd can be ironed out over time too.

I am very pleased he has signed a new contract. Mourinho clearly rates him.

Now he's got to show us that he earned it. I hope he succeeds.

It is good to have Dier around. Right now I see Davinson and Toby as #1 choice but espacially Davinson needs a break from time to time and fails with consistency very often. So it is good to have options. Now extend Japhet and maybe get a direct replacement for Jan Vertonghen with some experience then we go.

Im glad dier is sticking around as long as hes done playing midfield. Not a big fan of pairing him with sanchez as either look better alongside toby

I think it’s a good move. He’s been very good since the restart (SU game aside, but that looks an anomaly at the moment...), he can play a number of positions, he’s clearly an influential member in the dressing room, and Jose likes him. No-brainer.

Good news. I still think he has a lot of potential at CB and he has a fantastic mentality. Important to get his future settled early on. Get Japh signed up too and we can look at someone with potential like Kim to replace Jan.

Great quotes too:

"Crazy to think i've been here for 6 years. My target is clear, I want to be the very best in the league at my position. My objective is to win trophies here, the same as the manager."

"My clear objective & the manager's clear objective is to try to win trophies for the club. The manager, his record, his mentality towards winning trophies, that was a huge thing for me."

"That was one of the reasons why I wanted to stay here & commit my future here because I feel like I want to prove myself in this position in the PL and I feel like Tottenham is the best place for me to do that."

I tajj k e it by your wtf that you don’t like Dier @swarvsta ?

Well, I think for you to say this is ‘one of the best signings of the summer’ is rather baffling. Hence the WTF from me.

I don’t dislike Dier. I think he brings some important qualities that Jose likes.

I am delighted to see him not playing in midfield anymore. I think he has reasonable potential at CB but still has a lot to prove.

You say this is ‘one of the best signings of the summer’ but would our rivals see it that way if they had signed him from us? I’m not sure if they would.

But I am 100% behind Eric, and hope he progresses at CB. If he can improve his positional awareness and reading of the danger, I think he could be very good there.

He will only get better at CB, especially if he can consistently play alongside Toby. No doubt this is why Jose managed to convince Toby to stay as well.

Both Dier and Sanchez lack the 90-minute concentration when playing together - they're very good, but slip-ups will happen. Alongside Toby that seems to be drastically reduced with both of them. Sanchez will get the nod when Jose feels we need pace I expect.
