You can only question his mentality.

How can you be praised by all around you, under Conte in one of the most defensively sound teams in the PL getting called up to the England squad. Bang in form.

Then fucking wilt.

Sell him.
Nobody would buy him, and I mean nobody.

He always has this in him. He's had this in his game since his first match with us. He hasn't figured it out. Same as Sanchez. Time to move on.

He can have a purple patch (last season) that will deceive us into thinking he is quality, but in reality he is not Top4 standard player. He has to be Axed Asap.

Mistake aside, he looks far more effective as a RCB as he's allowed to take up more attacking positions. Better cross on him than Royal and generally looked to try and make up for his error.

He majorly got away with one against Marseille where he more or less crossed a clearance back into our box. Hugely at fault for the second Liverpool goal tonight.

No matter how much he improves, he has these moments in him unfortunately.

I thought he was better second half , really put the effort in to try and make amends. To be fair Lenglet almost cost us too, it happens. The concern for me is his mistakes are adding up of late. Needs a run out of the team but can only do it after the WC when Romero returns. Whatever we do we will have at least one defender with costly mistakes in them. Dier, Davies and Sanchez are all decent squad players but you can't have 3 of those in one area of the pitch. 1 injury to a starter and 1 of them is a regular 1st choice.

He has been making mistakes regularly for years. Let's be honest he just isn't good enough.

Some players just always have a mistake in them. Sanchez, Dier, Lovren, David Luiz, Maguire etc. They can have one great season or two but ultimately will let you down. He's not a bad player but he should be rotated a lot more.

He has never been that good and constantly has a mistake in him. Get's to hide in a 3 but he should be plying his trade at a Everton or Southampton. Whether its sloppy passes or poor concentration, you don't build strong teams with players like him. He should be no more than a squad player yet here we are and he is starting every game.

Same goes for Davies. Two average to mediocre CB's who may have a good game or a little run where they look half decent but let's be honest, neither is good enough for where we want to be. Nearly 10 years at us for the pair and honestly never thought we have a safe pair of hands in those two. We've gone from Vertonghen and Alderweirald to Dier, Davies and Sanchez so found ourselves massively weakened at CB.

2 new CB's are a must. Don't really care if Dier, Davies and Sanchez go. Can live with one or two as squad players but I'm tired of watching these limited CB's starting every game knowing they won't get any better.

I always try and think would player x get into any of our rivals teams / squads

I was very pleased Diers form picked up so much the last year

but maybe it’s a case of form is temporary but class is permanent

in Diers case he’s just a couple of notches below elite and always will be

I don't think he's been making them consistently as he has in recent weeks. He's always had the odd error in him but this is his worst run under Conte.

Said it the other day in the Conte thread - Dier should be a backup. Only reason he's looked good under Conte is cos we've played him in the most passive, protected role in the entire league as the CCB in a deep Conte back line.

Second you move him away from CCB and he has to get more involved in the play rather than simply playing as a quarterback the cracks instantly start showing.

We should sign Lenglet on a perm to play CCB and then sign a top class LCB. Sell Sanchez and use Dier as the squad backup.
Lenglet hasn't shown he's anywhere good enough for where we want to be.
