Bit of a shit-heap of a draw to be honest.

Nothing particularly exciting, some potentially tricky games and another load of travel for every away game.

Ah well...we should at least win our three home games.

It might be a bit Mickey Mouse with the CL dropouts parachuting in but I love me some European football. Should be some good games at WHL, hope 1882 get sorted, particularly against the Turks!

Besiktas away will be a great atmoshpere, can't wait! Aren't they the ones who cheered us off the park when we schooled them a while back?
The atmosphere will be good but not the usual colderen of fire. The Besiktas stadium has been ripped down and they're currently playing at the national stadium which isn't as intimidating. I was in Istanbul a few weeks ago for a weekend break. Have to say their new stadium development looks amazing!!!!

Let's win our 3 home legs. 9 points will be more than enough to qualify.

Far from ideal but we have a big squad packed with quality.

Everton's group is a worse, a stinker of a group.
True but I reckon we could have qualified out of that group fine, all be it playing full strength team and i would likely have made it to a game or two!

The Turkish support at the lane is going to be immense. Expect then in the home end aswell. 1882 game please.

Agree. Have to say though I hate in when away supporters get in the home end. Gets on my tits and you can bet they won't be quiet about it either.

Group B would have been nice wouldn't it? Brugge, Turin and Helsinki...least it'll be warm for ours...

Our group isn't exactly easy. I think we may stuggle against Beşıktas. Partizan aren't pushovers.
I would disagree about Partizan. They're not all that.

Besiktas will be a real challenge, but top two isn't a problem. Glad we didn't get a group like Everton's, they might seriously go out!

The problem with this is not only the air miles, it's the fact that we were relying on the EL giving some gametime to youngsters and fringe players.

However, because all the teams we're facing are from uncompetitive leagues, they'll be fielding full strength sides.

Conundrum, esp vs Besiktas.
Why would we be looking to blood youngsters in the tougher group matches? We have the League Cup and the Greek team for that. U21 league fills in the gaps.

The only players who are hard done by in that scenario are Fryers, Mason & Ceballos. Personally I'd rather sell or loan Fryers & Mason, who are only in the mix due to the home grown rule. Where the hell we're going to find 2 or 3 good English players is anyone's guess though.

Good news is that, for 5 of the 6 fixtures, the following PL game is at home.
Only exception is December, when we go to Swansea.
No excuses for not talking all 3 points in those PL games then!

That said, after the Partizan Belgrade home fixture we are then home to Everton, not exactly an easy game to follow it up with.

I am just back from Peloponnese where Tripoli is

Tripoli isn't that exciting a place though but will still have decent weather early November, Nafplio which isn't far away is a superb spot, my 2nd favorite place in Europe after San Sebastian

Just looked at their squad and they have 8 Argentine players

We are finishing the group with the away fixture vs. Besiktas. If we are lucky, there will be few demands on the results in that match.

2006 uefa cup we played that format with Besiktas and Bayer Leverkesen away with 2 home games against other team.

First time back in Europe for a while for Spurs, but we also had Berbatov and Keane who helped us win all 4 games - including Besiktas away.

thx. glad to know I didnt imagine that.;)

Oh cool. So we got fucked off to Serbia, Turkey and Greece(3 areas I'd be asking for personal security for if i was the club). Classic us.

Yet Everton has 3 opponents in civilized countries.

Cool beans, UEFA. Cool beans:shifty:

Fuck you too Platini:finger:
