I’ve been out of touch the last couple weeks due to travel but I was stunned when I read about Conte’s diatribe last week. I thought “what a shit bag” and wanted him gone ASAP. I wanted to hear he was grabbed by the throat and run through the door head first on his way out. He instantly became a cancer and might have been one even before that if that kinda shit was in his head. Good riddance and fuck that asshole.

This club has even driven a Canadian to say something mean-spirited. When is enough going to be enough?!

How many are on the board? A dozen?

Take any 12 members on here and you will have differing opinions on who is their top choice. I don't see why this would be any different at board level. If they all agreed some would complain they are just "yes men".

Damned if you do....
The directors are as follows:

Levy - Economics and Land Finance degree. Finance background.
Collecott - Chartered accountant. Finance background.
Cullen - PR person.
Kline - Marketing person.
Caplehorn - PE, Sports Science and Maths degree. Chartered accountant. Sports finance background
Paratici - Token football person.
Turner - Another finance person.

If we’re being run by committee, including the football side, then the club is a perfect reflection of the people running it.

Seems like we should just give the manager's job to a Microsoft Certified Excel jockey.

Saka has become the best winger in the world. Martinelli was always flashing hot & cold, now he's a consistent goal threat. Gabriel is part of one of the best defensive records in the EPL and it's largely to do with the manager. Creating an environment and team which helps the sum become greater then it's parts.

Please tell me you can see the difference in approaches. A coach like Arteta who has Arsenal playing progressive, front foot, attacking football and Conte who had us camped back in our own box. Pragmatism at it's finest.
You do realise Arteta played 3 at the back counter attack football when he first arrived at Arsenal. He won the Fa cup playing with a back 3 of Tierney, luiz and Holding. It helps when the board backs the manager with new defenders like saliba, Gabriel, Ben White, tomiyasu Zinchenko and a new keeper enabling the Manager to switch formation and play on the front foot because he's now got defenders he trusts to defend with a high back line.

It’s not that they have differing opinions- it’s that the “board” can’t reach a consensus quickly.

A good board should be able to debate and argue amongst themselves, and then move forward with a consensus choice.

Given that Paratici seems frozen out at the moment, we have a bunch of people who know little about football management convinced they are right and their colleagues are wrong.

Conte's approach was the absolute opposite of pragmatic. It was based around 1 single approach/setup and it would have been the same 11 just about every game if not for injuries and suspensions. It never changed in spite of all the evidence that it was no good, which the shots against stats bear out.
Absolutely. I think people often confuse pragmatic with negative. If you have no good defenders so play to your strengths and go all-out attack that is also pragmatic. Conte absolutely didn't play to our strengths but rather played how he wanted to and moaned that he didn't have the right players.

Which I could swallow if Conte had just arrived. But he was up until recently working with players day-to-day and the signs were we were getting worse.

Let’s not forget Conte was backed as well. Pick the bones out of who we signed vs who he wanted, but you can’t deny the fact that we upgraded in the majority of key positions. We signed Brighton & Everton’s best players. Signed Conte’s preferred LWB & also added a sprinkling of squad-filler.

He’s hardly had to coach chopped-liver (Dier excluded).

Which central defenders have we brought since Conte arrived that would enable him to play with a higher back line. I believe we've only brought in one top flight defender Romero since 2017 whilst Arsenal have brought in all the defenders I mentioned since 2019.

Now he's gone we can be honest, he was hugely flawed.

If he was anywhere near as good as he says he is we'd be up with Arsenal

This season, got nothing out of Son, nothing out of Richarlison, nothing out of Bissouma, binned of Gil just as he was coming good, binned of Spence, ignored Danjuma. His man Perisic looks a long way short of good enough.

Used one formation.

For an elite coach it's miles off what you'd expect.

I don't think you will find many 'proper football men' on the Boards of any of the big teams...

Nah, it's a crazy decision brought on by the fact that our board have no idea what they want as a collective. I keep hearing "perhaps we are waiting until the summer because who we want is currently employed". Nope we just don't know what we are doing. We've been speaking to Naglesmann but not everyone is convinced. Poch has his backers, Galardo the same but they can't decide between them. That is fundamentally because there is no mission statement as to what we are and who as a club we want to be.

I'm sure the Levy apologists will be along shortly to tell me how I've got it wrong, but I haven't. It genuinely is the blind leading the blind.
Not proving Conte wrong, are they?

Yeah right we'd be up there with arsenal. Arteta was on course for his 2nd 8th place finish after 16 months in charge., which is how long Conte has been in charge. Maybe if Richy and bissouma could stay fit we'd of seen a bit more from them.

Its absolutely fine experts in their tasks are part of the board. Still most of them shouldn't have any say in sporting matters. They can maybe voice an opinion, but not really be part of the deciding process...
