If we would have CL this season, then I think it could have been very possible to get him (with AVB that is). But now I don't see any reasons for him to join, unless he's unhappy at Madrid.

I can't see this happening unless we slump into some oil money. Atletico bought him for €40m last season, and he's probably on huge wages. The only thing that may help us a bit is that Atletico can't offer CL football either.

IF we manage to get him I'll happily donate £50. I doubt I'll have to :)

Could akqyid simply have the wrong Atletico forward, and it's Adrian Lopez we've put in an official approach for?

It isn't going to happen.

I will happily stick 70 quid in the SC fund if I'm proved wrong. (I don't think I will be).

Ooh! It's a nice safe feeling one upsmanship! Ha ha

(Cue weary 'spelling' ratings)

Another to join the list of unrealistic targets we can claim to have 'tried to sign', will believe it when I see it. Remember the last time we went striker shopping in Spain and came back looking completely fucking silly?

Would love it of course, but our previous doesn't fill me with confidence. Hope he has real homo love for AVB tbh, only way we'll stand any chance IMO.

Even with Atletico's financial troubles, us having AVB, with rumours of big money coming in and an excellent young squad I still can't see us signing Falcao.

I don't know why everyone is getting excited when aqua has only stated that a bid has gone in, does anyone here know of atletico's financial well-being? Are they heavily in-debt? And to those doubting that this could be possible to me honestly we have a slim chance, he has transfered from a CL club to an EL club before, AVB has worked with him, and even if he has adebayor wages Levy may have found a way around this ( signing on bonus to make up the difference as in ade's case ) and it would take a good chunk to get him, but this isn't any striker either and he would be 110% worth the money no matter the cost. With our midfield for next season falcao would score in every game and I would bet money on that, our squad is stronger than atletico's by a stretch IMHO. So don't right off the idea as it is just being played with in this thread. And hey if he doesn't sign we can all turn on our consoles and pay an astronomical fee in fifa manager mode for him :p

Atletico have 675 million dollars of debt, and they owe 28m euros to Porto yet for the transfer of Falcao

That's pretty sick. I can see why they might want to (or rather, need to) get rid of Falcao. However, I doubt we'd be the only intereted party here. It's also likely they will want to recoup what they spent on him if they are to sell, although if their financial problems are this big they may have no other choice than sell him on the "cheap".

If they really wanted/needed to sell him I think they would tell the media. Start a bidding war between the biggest clubs in Europe. To make as much money of it as they can.
