We all know how this story ends.

Levy keeps Nuno in charge and continue to look as poor as we have all season. We have one good result in the next two league games that is a false dawn. There’s chat after the game a corner has been turned, just like after City when the “maybe Sanchez and Dier are good enough” narrative came out despite the overwhelming proof to the contrary.

By the time Nuno is let go, just as the January window opens, we are adrift of the top 6 and Levy decides Mason till the end of the season is the answer. We sign no one in January as we get one or two “new (old) manager bounce” games before turning back into a pumpkin shortly after February 1st.

Partly tongue in cheek, but it’s depressing that I think this is exactly how it could easily play out.

For those without skysports:

Thanks for that. Makes pretty depressing viewing. Carragher is excellent at his analysis and just shows how inept our management and our team are. Glad he called out Kane as well - he was absolute dog shit.

Sadly accurate I think. Even when we win we look boring and barely scrape by. Something has to give and I suspect Mason would do as good a job as Nuno

Normal fans like ourselves realise we have to play Skipp and Hojbjerg. However many spurs fans loved that midfield line up. Hopefully theyve seen the light.

To me It was the shape in midfield that caused the most issues in the first half, Ndombele and Dele very wide and Hojbjerg either getting caught high ahead of the ball or dropping so far back onto the centre backs in possession as he doesn’t fancy taking the ball on the turn right up against people, personally don’t think we have to play Hojbjerg and Skipp together at all, to me we’ve looked very stodgy when they’ve played together before. Second half against Arsenal was a completely different game at 3 nil down, I don’t think we should base much on that.

I still think get our best technical players in the team and build the shape around that. Lo Celso and Skipp in a 2 with Ndombele slightly ahead playing in the space between midfield and defence. The one paced Dele and Hojbjerg out of the team

I don’t want Nuno but I definitely don't want Mason either. I would seriously give it to 'Harry'. This is where I am as a fan which in itself is pretty depressing.

Play players in the right positions and in a formation that suits suits squad. Motivate them and encourage the players. Get them working as a team. Get them to actually want to compete.

Bring in Crouchy, Defoe and Krancjar.....

You'd seriously drop PEH for GLC?

Blimey. You do realise that PEH was trying to deal with Partey, Smith Rowe, AND Odegaard because Dele and Tanguy were up by Kane and Son right?

I do think he will go perhaps even walk but think he will go at this Intl break. Particularly if we lose against Villa... just genuinely cant see how this will work. Even if some say it is too soon, we just know it wont work. I feel sorry for Nuno but at the same time he is earning a handsome wage and will get a small payoff ...

Ive not seen many who think this would work.

The only thing I would say is that I think he is genuinely ambitious and will see this as a genuine challenge and I sort of hope he does too. Make the decision for Levy hard as far as I'm concerned

And no chance if Poch coming back. Especially since he has unlimited budget and can buy all the players he wants. He always said he wanted to build a dynasty and now I can't see that not happening

I'm not sure in over his head is the right term. The apparent lack of self belief in himself and his methods is concerning though.

A game developer once said something that no gamer likes hearing but was nail on head stuff. "Gamers have no idea what they want and if we gave them what they said they wanted in a game we'd go bust and sell no games". Shit analogy but if he is already questioning himself and his decisions after 6 league games, it doesn't bode well for his future.
Sad to say but it doesn't.

I'm probably one of the staunchest defenders of the status quo and stability on here. I didn't want rid of Poch, even at the very end although it was inevitable by that point, I thought we got rid of Jose too early even though I didn't want him anywhere near us to start with.

But if yesterdays midfield 'tactics' were actually deliberate rather than players not following instructions as Carragher suggests, that is damning evidence that in this case it might be best to rip the plaster off before it gets any worse.

I didnt want Poch to go because whilst i think he was at fault for a few things i also recognised he needed the rebuild and deserved the chance because he had proven what he could do with us. He took us to the CL final for fucks sakes.

Nuno on the other hand, he may well be ambitious but just dont think you can have someone who was 'sacked; by Wolves and come to us. Im sorry but if he wasnt good enough for Wolves he fucking isnt good enough for us. I feel sorry for him but he isnt for us whatsoever.

As for making it hard for Levy, I have a feeling this will be Levy seeing it as a positive. He will turn around and say look you wanted a DoF, now look what happened... kinda thing. I could be totally wrong.

Looking at Carragher’s analysis there, it sort of solves the mystery of where the fuck our midfield were. Glad someone located them.

I also find it hard to be overly critical of Hojbjerg after that.

The guy was basically left to marshal the entire midfield on his own, as Dele and Ndombele had fucked off 25 yard upfield and behind him were two utterly inept cackers in Dier and Sanchez.

Nice, but you forgot about Mason coming in and Winks being resurrected as a 40m player with potential World Cup selection, how do you improve on that in the transfer window.

Blindingly obvious to anyone watching the game with half a clue about football, so why wasn’t it changed up during the half, why do so called senior players just carry on with a game plan so flawed it needed to be thrown out quickly. Where was the quick chat on the side, this shit ain’t working let’s change it up. Poor management from Nuno and pretty passive from our senior players.

He's a dead man walking. Situation was too big / complicated for him so I don't blame him. The performance by the players yesterday was so bad, so disorganised so lifeless that they obviously aren't believing in whatever he's saying. The performance reminds me of the last days of Poch and Jose. No coming back from it so it's just a matter of when, not if, he's sacked.
Paratici and levy will hope they can keep him in place past Christmas so that it won't look like such a fuck up appointing him in the first place.

Absolutely. He’s a much better footballer. Nothing to really do with the game yesterday.

i wanted a new BMW and my wife brought me home a used Lada, I couldn’t see any positives when she said you did want a new car didn’t you. No positives here.
