Cottagers host Spurs in fourth round clash

London rivals Fulham and Tottenham will be vying for a place in the fifth round of the FA Cup when they meet on Sunday.

The two sides lock horns at Craven Cottage in a repeat of last season's quarter-final clash, which saw Spurs advance at the second time of asking following an initial 0-0 draw.

Fulham thrashed League One outfit Peterborough 6-2 in the third round while Tottenham strolled to a 3-0 victory over Charlton.

Both teams will see this year's competition as an ideal opportunity to pick up some silverware while Spurs are also still involved in the UEFA Champions League.

It has been an excellent campaign so far for Harry Redknapp's men, who have played some exciting football in Europe and in the Premier League.

Fulham, meanwhile, had to endure a tricky start to Mark Hughes' reign but things are now clicking into gear for the Welshman and they are beginning to show their true potential.

Team News
Gareth Bale misses out for Spurs with the back problem that forced him off after just 11 minutes of last weekend's 1-1 draw at Newcastle.

Roman Pavlyuchenko and Benoit Assou-Ekotto are fit again after missing out at St James' Park and Heurelho Gomes was back in training on Friday following a shoulder injury.

Wilson Palacios was also sidelined last week and is unlikely to feature with a swollen knee.

Sandro is doubtful with a back problem while longer-term injured Tom Huddlestone (ankle) and Ledley King (groin) remain out.

New Fulham loan signing Gael Kakuta is unavailable for the game as he has already played in the competition for Chelsea this term.

Hughes may tinker with his side following the defeat at Liverpool, with Zoltan Gera, Diomansy Kamara and Simon Davies all pushing for starts.

Loan signing Gael Kakuta is cup-tied for Fulham, but new recruit Steve Sidwell is available for the Cottagers.

Bobby Zamora (leg), Philippe Senderos (Achilles) and Matthew Briggs (calf) are out and Mark Schwarzer is away on Asian Cup duty with Australia.

Tottenham's Gareth Bale is out with back trouble but Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Heurelho Gomes and Wilson Palacios should all return from injury.

Ledley King, Jonathan Woodgate and Tom Huddlestone are all still sidelined.

i was about to say anything but a reply but i change my mind, this is our best and only real chance to win something this season. unlike previous years there isnt a team in the league we cant beat (except for united away) so hopefully we dont crash out tomorrow

I'd expect a few changes, such as maybe Sandro, but otherwise a strong team bearing in mind we have to go to Blackburn on Wednesday, whose form has improved quite a bit...

Has no-one told you yet that the year ends in 1? We're going to win the CL! But getting the FA would be OK for third prize (still haven't given up on the league yet).
Just hope the team turns up and we look good today. We have stuttered the last few and need a good performance, a couple of goals for JD would be nice aswell.

Would like Pav to start this one. Although that wouldn't make a tiny bits difference in Harry judgement to pick him consistently, even if he scored five.

Annoyed this isn't on the box, gonna miss the first half as work til 5 :(

Would like sandro to start this one
Me too, but only if he's alongside Modric.

Gomes
Corluka Kaboul Bassong Ekotto
Lennon Sandro Modric Pienaar
Kranjcar
Pavlyuchenko

Subs: Cudicini, Hutton, Dawson, Palacios, Van der Vaart, Defoe, Crouch.

Considering I've made seven changes to our first choice XI, that's still a frigging strong team, and one that I'd be confident of beating almost anyone.

It's good to get out of the ITK thread and talk about a football match. Legacy a good team, but your back nine with VDV with JD up front for me.
Can't wait for kick off.

Hutton ..... Dawson ..... Gallas ..... Ekotto

Lennon .... Sandro ..... Modric ..... Pienaar

.................. Van der Vaart ...................

....................... Crouch .......................

I think the back 4 should never be tampered with unless it is significantly underperforming, which it is not at the moment.

Palacios has been hit and miss recently and I think Sandro should be given a chance to show what he can do over 90 minutes.

Craven Cottage is tight and you do not get a lot of space so the height of Crouch will give us a major outlet and will enable us to move the ball up field quickly. Plus Van der Vaart plays best with Crouch and VDV is our best goal scorer so we should cater for his needs.

I don't want to see Crouch near the starting XI today...Brede Hangeland will dominate him

I see this as the perfect game to give Woodgate a game, they don't have a battering ram as such, so he should be able to cope for an hour.

I'd go for:

Cudicini
Hutton Woodgate Dawson Bassong
Lennon Jenas Modric Pienaar
VDV
Crouch

Would like to see lennon get a rest for this one, Is we try and play as narrow as possible with Kranjcar and Jenas cutting in we should boss the centre of the park. This is also why i've gone for defoe. The narrower we play the less likely we are to resort to what has become our rather predictable attacking build up (GK to CB, CB to RB/LB, RB/LB to LM/RM...Cross and repeat). Our usual wide play only suits us if we have a target man ala Crouch. Id like to see us keep it on the deck and really try and play around Fulham.

I would imagine Woodgate would be noweher near ready to start a game of this level...yet...hence why Harry is considering loaning him out.
