less of a pledge - in fact he was bordering on being a little evasive. dunno that i can blame him though. the club were pretty close to shipping him out so why should he sign his life away. loyalty is a 2 way thing.

having said that, what a cracking lad - saw in the other interview he said he was t-total. what a fantastic example he is to young lads listening to that.

Agreed ^^ Reporter was a goon. Wasn't a fan of his last response to that question though, didn't sound too promising.

I think he is probably getting sick of being asked the same question every single fucking week!

Get him to room with Disco Benny. He seems to shun the pampered star lifestyle aswell.

If we continue to challenge at the top end of the table, there is no reason for him to leave, and no reason to sell to a rival.

See I thought about this, and the question he's asked at the end is just impossible to answer. Think about it, in any profession no-one would ever commit to 15/20 years at a certain place, would they? When you're 21 you have no idea what you're going to be doing in 5, 10, 20 years time. I think his answer at the end shows absolutely nothing to worry about whatsoever, just a young guy who genuinely doesn't know what's going to happen in his career, and is fed up by getting asked about it. I think we can see from his comments that he really enjoys playing at Spurs and if we progress then he'll have no reason to leave. Likewise, we could get relegated and he'll leave, or he'll break his leg and end up in the Blue Square South, who knows? You'd be an idiot to promise to stay at any club for life, hence the evasion, nothing sinister at all.

what a twat interviewer, who basically said:

'apparently you are low maintence, so you don't get tempted by footballer lifestyle?'

Saint Bale: 'no.'

twat: 'well you are highly paid therefore you must automatically be weak of mind and must enjoy going out and snorting lines in your armani suits off the tits of 6 hookers, clubbing to deafening music, getting hammered so that you don't remember anything and regret it the next day, crashing sports cars and blowing 60 grand a play in blackjack etc etc etc. Clearly they are linked.'

Saint Bale: '...no ffs...'

twat.

and reading between the lines, i think gareth, like us, realises that he isn't gonna commit to spurs or to another club (not that many out there have money anymore) until he finds out whether we make a statement in the players we sign in January (maybe Summer). After that he will probably decide.

I wouldn't read into it either way, it does mean nothing - but equally I wouldn't accuse him of being deliberately evasive because he is tempted. I believe he is happy at Spurs now though, how could he not be?...and I would also guess that if we continue to progress (finish in the top 4 again) he'll be more than happy to be a part of it again next season.

All he's implying is that he's more than happy at Spurs and probably has an open mind about his long term future - it could well mean him beaing at Spurs for a good few seasons yet if we keep up our recent progress.

But there is no doubt about it if somebody wants him they are going have to pay an insane amount of money for him.
