Sir Bill on COYS

Listen, I have heard on the grapevine that Madrid will pay a record fee for Bale BUT they will inform the press that the figure will be less than Ronaldo's so that he doesn't get his knickers in a twist.

Seems as though that is the case from the latest reports.

yeah sure, let us look like we got mugged off of a world record fee by Madrid, and also set a nice precedent for future negotiations. As long it is appeases the vanities of cristiano ronaldo im fine with it.

And I'm sure if us nobody's (no offence anyone!) know his info, that Ronaldo will also know this. Do we really believe aload of fans on Internet forums know more than a professional football player, who plays for that club? Yeh righto!

Not having a go at the info, but it's bollox that he wouldn't know and all us do!

We weren't initially looking to sell, it's only been since it became apparent that he wanted to go and wasn't going to sign a new contract. Levy would be crazy to just sit on things and not try and work out a deal when his chief asset could be running down his contract & his value depreciating all the time.

I think Levy learnt that with Modric, he could maybe have got £40m in 2011 and settled for a staggered £26.6m in 2012.
He'll not miss out like that again.

But Modric stated 'publicly' he wanted to go..........If Bale is that adamant ...why doesn't he do the same thing...but the price tag still stays on his head....:)

Doing them favours? The same club who have hounded Bale non-stop and started selling Bale shirts already?

I'd agree and then when it's all done Levy should make his statement and in that statement detail the exact figure. ****s

That's my point though. Everyone knows his talent and if he all of a sudden has a form slip or doesn't play regularly everyone will automatically assume it is because he is trying to force a move to Madrid, true or not. And even if that isn't a factor, his dwindling contract certainly will be if we set our price too high.

Marketing. He is a form of income to the club beyond what he contributes on the football pitch.

Brand Bale has blown up over the summer due to a multitude of factors. This is what Perez is buying.

No, he as a footballer is not worth 80m+. But as a financial generator to the club, Perez is asking Levy to sell him his new crisp £50 note for £30.

I have taken to refering to him as the monkeyboy. sometimes the welsh gimp.

i refer to people in a derogative way if i dont hold them in any high respect, im a dick like that, but its my prerogative.
What has he done that doesn't deserve respect?

Wasn't this type of rhetoric the same as with Soldado so to appease Valencia?!

Why wouldn't we want to shout out the fact that we've nurtured the player who's been sold for a world record fee?!

Because Bale knows the possibility of Levy making him stay is very real.

Even then, I still wouldn't place him as high as the media suggests (i.e. around 100 million pounds/euros). I heard that there were a whole bunch of clauses in a lot of Bale's marketing deals that would greatly benefit us on the unfortunate occasion he left. Not sure on the validity but it is something to note.

I wouldnt ask I would Demand! Benzema or Ozil and no deal is on the table now until we have the option on them. They want world class players well so do we, make all this RM's problem and not ours. If Levy stands his ground every single one of us would support him.

The biggest problem when trying to get players such as those involved in such a deal would likely be convincing them to come to us - not least making an agreement for wage demands

If Di Maria and Coentrao were involved in a Bale deal, I would be happy. Di Maria is pretty heavily under-rated, I've watched him more than enough to know that is the case. Definitely a serial diver though. He plays a big hand in a lot of Madrid's goals.

Why the hell are we bending over for Ronaldo and Real Madrid?

If that's the case anyway.

Not buying this, it would be far too easy for Ronaldo or any of his advisers to find out the true amount of Bales transfer. Madrids plan has already failed at the first hurdle, which surely would have been to keep their plan a secret.

As for the BBC reporting that Madrid have given us the choice of 2 offers, I hope Levy will tell Madrid where to stick both offers and make Madrid realise that they only get Bale on our terms, not theirs.

If Bale does go we should announce any fee as it is a great publicity opportunity. We owe Madrid f**k all so they can deal with any potential Ronaldo strop themselves.
