Think utd will get him. Woodward will want to appease the shareholders after misding out on cl. There aren't that many bigger names than him in football.

4.30 on deadline day, Real phone Levy and say, "OK, you can have him for free (permanent) and we'll pay his wages until his contract with us runs out (June '22)."

Can see it happening earlier than people think. Not necessarily to us but they are in an incredibly weak position considering the players they want to bring in

6 years ago, Bale was THE hottest property in planet football. More than half a decade later, he's being offered around as a loan offering. Perils of moving to a big big club.

Getting another attacking player as well as more central midfielders are essential to avoid the half season collapse we've just seen. There's room for another player. Have to be prepared that we don't get the same Bale that left us, but he'll give us experience, leadership and winning mentality. Also get flash back to the days when Spurs weren't interested in getting Chris Waddle back, leaving him to Sheffield Wednesday where he dominated the league and won Premier League player of the year. The rumoured two years loan is a low risk deal. Given his age it's not a big deal that he's not our permanent player neither, it will likely be the rest of his peak years.

The romantic side of me wants him back at Spurs. The pragmatic, doesn't.

I wanted him last year and I think had we of got Bale then, he would've been the catalyst to get us to a Champions league final... Oh wait, scrap that.

Still surprised there are some people who don't want a guy whose won everthing at club level in Europe to come in to our team

Haha. Just the 600k a week and tens of trophies with Four champions league wins.
Sign me up for those perils any day.
Dream move, tons of money, serial winner. He’s done ok! (Even if his career ended today)

Do people here really want a loanee 30 year old taking a spot from one of Lucas, Son, Alli, Eriksen or Kane? Where do you fit him in?

Eriksen is possibly leaving so IF we were to sign Bale he could easily slot in centrally (where he had that massive Purple patch for us under AVB). Not that I in any way want Eriksen to leave, but it does seem likely with contract situation.

Plus it's a squad game, how many times did we actually have first choice (before Moura achieved recent god-hood) Eriksen / Dele / Son combo with Kane in front of them this season?

Look at Man City's options in their attacking midfield three and who they have to slot in when needed.

If we want to win things, the players can't be taking their place for granted.

This is it in a nutshell. No new incoming for 18 months or so. Nobody pushing Trippier, Eriksen, Dele etc. They know if they're fit they play.

Gareth Bale won the CL final last season scoring two goals in the process. I don't care about his injury record, he is still a brilliant player. Him arriving to training the first day back is going to give everyone an extra lift and an extra incentive to raise their game

And if he breaks down in training?

I'd have him back but would prefer a young hungry player.

42 appearances this season (next best since his 1st 2 seasons at RM), which is much more than I was expecting given that the perception is that he's always injured. It's roughly 75% of all possible games and that doesn't include games where he was rested/left on the bench, so potentially could have been higher.

That being said, he's now 30 and that number will only go one way from here.

Can't see Levy doing a loan either, when was the last time we did one of those? Pau Lopez?

Not happening and even if it did, it would be a permanent deal at a low transfer fee, like Llorente.
