Gomes has to go........ down earlier for shots like yesterdays. It was a very poor goal to let in and could have cost us, big time.

Trust him get back to being the 'keeper he was last year or replace him in the Summer?

He made enough saves in the Blackburn game to be said to have preserved the 3 points for us...and apart from his blunder, yesterday, dominated his area reasonably well. He is still relatively young for a 'Keeper and was actually a striker until he was 19 (or summit - did you know that?). Yeah, he makes blunders, but so did/does every 'Keeper. I'm really not sure we could do better (in terms of who would come to us/who we could afford).

I know that doesn't mean a lot, because its a cumulative effort between him and the defense, but nevertheless...

He earnt us three points on Wednesday, could have cost us two points yesterday but thankfully didn't.

He's still a decent keeper, just needs to cut out the silly mistakes that have crept back into his game.

If a top keeper became available then I see no issue in replaceing Gomes. I love his athletism and his shot stopping....but his control of the box, communication, handling and concentration are all sub-par.

there are about 3 keepers in the whole world who never make a mistake. Gomes is the type of keeper who will make the odd mistake, but the very hard saves he pulls off that very few keepers would pull off more than balances it out imo.

Needs to get back to his top form. He is a little inconsistent at the moment - Bolton goal yesterday, Drogba's equaliser against Chelsea, few others that you would hope he would do better.

Hopefully he will be back to his best soon.

Hang on a second. You really think Foster is a better keeper than Gomes? Eek Complete madness, Gomes is up there with the best of them and as has been said all keepers make mistakes.

All the keepers you have mention in that list have made high profile mistakes this season. If you can name me a better keeper than Gomes that we could actually sign then I would be willing to consider replacing him (all players are replaceable in our team if better ones are available.) but unless there is a keeper out there then I am happy for Gomes to be our number 1 for the time being.

I would have Gomes over any other other prem keepers. Overall he is a great keeper. I am not going to waste my breathe in expalining why he is great. Just felt oblige to lend him support. There are 20 others whom I would like to see the back of before Gomes.

Hart has made as many errors as Gomes this season, his form is causing massive debate on Blue Moon.

Given makes a lot of Hollywood saves, but his positioning and footwork is nowhwere near as good as Gomes.

Cech, Reina, VDS fair enough. Foster is no better than what we have.

Do you honestly we would be questioning about if Gomes has to go or not if our forwards would do their job properly and bang some goals in ???
We are lucky to have him as a goalie as we have much much relied on him to keep us good results (considering , none of our strikers can score and He is one of the guy who has earned regular points.
But as we rarely have more that 1 goal up to the opposing team, you do not tolerate him mistakes whereas this probably isn't much of a problem our actual front line is one of the worst of the league.Eek
We all now where the lack is on the pitch and goalkeeper isn't the biggest problem, is it ??

You enlighten us with your expertise about how he went down too quick when he actually didn't get down quick enough as the ball went underneath his body. :duh:

Any goal conceded whether it was a mistake or not gets jumped on by the anti-Gomes lobby who seem to ignore the sheer amount of top quality saves he makes every game.
