Remind me how many times we finished mid table after the three I listed left.
Remind me, how many trophies did we win?

I think you've answered your own question there. If he goes abroad, no problem really. If he sells to another prem team, then it's directly strengthening a rival. Why would you do that if the club is serious about trying to win things?

Early days I know, but the thing that concerns me is that no one, not Kane, his Agent, the club,Mason et al have come out to say that the report is not true. Until that happens, I'm afraid that we have to accept that it's highly likely that it's true.
...
One thing is for certain, BSoDL I may be, but if the club have to sell and fuck up the rebuild following that, I too will be calling for Levy's head. This is absolute last chance saloon for him.
Not what you said though is it? You're changing your tune cos the narrative doesn't stick.Remind me, how many trophies did we win?
If Levy sells to a prem rival, what is the point of this club?
Chelsea Mcity and MU will always be stronger than us in players department couse MONEY. (not counting off year for rebuild)If he goes abroad, no problem really. Arsenal supportingA cursory read through the article and guess what? Not a single fucking quote. The usual 'sources close to' bullshit.
Dontcallmesmug LOL Smug great word Football pundits middle nameThis is a great thread now. Posters going ballistic.
Have Freddie & dontcallmesmug finished their bickering yet?
It's certainly possible that whoever is coming in has already discussed Kane and other players with DL.There is a lot at play here.
The Kane rumours are coming from journalists and pundits with connections to specific clubs. It is how the greatest manager in the league used to do it. It still goes on. Plausible deniability too.
Get players to work the dressing room when on international duty. Has been happening since my playing days and my dad's before me.
Could also be coming from Kane's agent. He knows the emotional pull the club has on him. Easier to get this out now when no manager is in place. A new manager could demand Kane not be sold for another year at minimum.
Could also be coming from the club. Better to have a bidding war than to have only one serious buyer. Levy holds all the cards here and not beyond him to do what is right for the club. Despite all the criticism labeled at him I do think he tries to get the best for THFC.
Young players in the modern game are all about the money. Later in their careers it becomes about the medals won. I have said here before that friends of mine don't show me their Rolexes or Bentleys they show me their winners medals. I am not impressed by the former and I am envious of the latter. Kane is getting to the stage of his career where he has to look at Jamie Vardy and be just a little bit envious.
I have long written here that to be a successful club Tottenham must win things. We have thrown away opportunities to win League Cups, FA Cups, Europas and had 2-3 chances to win the league or the Champions League. The winning mentality does not permeate the club. It is a great club to play for, to work for and one of the highest paying in the world, but there is no real pressure or expectation to win.
The expectation to win, to be successful needs to change at Tottenham. If not, players like Sheringham, Modric, Keane, Campbell, Berbatov, Bale and Kane will give great service to the club, but their peak years will be at United, Real, Arsenal, Liverpool, etc.
The pressure to win is not really there. It is why players like Dier, Sissoko, Winks and a few others enjoy playing for the club. They get paid really well, are not in relegation trouble, play in Europe, but don't have to deal with the constant grind and expectation of Chelsea, City, United.
It pains me to write most of the above, but I have been lucky to work in the game and got to experience clubs like City and the change in mentality and expectation. Any new manager coming in needs to have a clear philosophy and needs to move out players who won't help him win.
We are a big club. We need to act like it where it matters most - on the pitch. And by winning trophies. Any trophy!
You'd make great ITK. You've got the name for it.Has any of our ITK guys said anything about this?
Do we trust the Levy to reinvest the sale of Kane back into the team? If he does, wouldn't be surprise if he buys 12 players and thinks he's done great business.
