I hear you and i know i'm in the minority but what did he really say that was so wrong in that interview.
In fact i was quite glad that he was so honest - at least you know where you stand.
And tbf which striker wouldn't want to play with someone like De Bruyne - it's like asking if you'd like to play with Messi or Ronaldo - 'Hell yeah! Of course!' :)

Look, I just find it strange that people are saying that he's 'turned his back on us' 'he hates the club' 'he's shitting on us!' - c'mon, really!!
He's been with us for almost 20 years and in that time he's given his all - every time!
The fact that we've been so close to winning the league, winning the CL, winning the league cup, getting to the FA Cup final - but not quite making it - it's bound to take it's toll on our best players.
Can we really begrudge him a move??

I just hope that all the talk of him getting Covid tested and returning to training tomorrow is true.
However, the truth is, there's simply no easy way to lose a player you love - who really is 'one of our own!'.

It was never gonna be straightforward but like i said before, we knew it was gonna happen - so rather than getting angry at a player that over years has brought all of us so much joy, how about we just take the shedload of cash, reinvest and go again!!

COYS!!
What shedload of cash is that? If Harry is refusing to turn-up he is dancing to City’s tune, whether that is intentionally or not. His actions are an attempt to force down the price to get a deal, unless he or we are being incredibly naive.

I saw a bit of chat earlier about Kane not behaving in a (vice) captain-like manner. Truth is, he has never been proper captain material.

1. He’s far too self-centred. A proper captain thinks of the team first and foremost.

2. As shown on the Amazon series, his “team talks” are appalling. There’s nothing inspiring about preceding every verb with “fucking”. Compare and contrast to Danny Blanchflower filling the team with confidence before the ‘63 Cup Winners Cup final after Billy Nick, bless him, had scared them to death by eulogising the Atletico team. Can’t hold all future captains to that standard, of course, but we can do better than “fucking fuck”, I think.

No way would that make any sense to me. Who in the squad would be able to guarantee us the 20+ goals per season Harry does year in year out? I hate to say it, but Kane is irreplaceable. That's why we should hold out for as much as we can, hopefully £200 million.

"Who in the squad would be able to guarantee us the 20+ goals per season"

I think with 160 million in Levy's wallet finding that player wouldn't prove to be too much of a problem, in especially as few teams have a pot to piss in at the moment and need the money.

The club tried, I say too late and that Mourinho was such a massive failure has not helped obviously, but it is not like we have not invested.

19/20 Sessegnon, Ndombele, Gio + Bergwijn
20/21 In the middle of a pandemic with a big loss in income we got Bale back, Vinicius, Reguilon, Doherty, Hojbjerg and Rodon.

Personally I'd say we showed ambition the last two seasons, it just did not work out.
Why are people focussing just on the ambition part of my post. I said ambition coupled with progress. As you know, you need the two. But I do still think there's been a lack of ambition, that rot set in before we finally signed a handful of largely unsuccessful players :(

So i'd suggest it goes back earlier than the last two seasons, those are when it started going tits, come on, we all know it, but this all has its roots earlier than that. We've gone backwards. Big time. Kane can see it, we can all see it. So call it what you like, the club, the CLUB have fucked this right up and now we're paying the price of that.

As I said earlier, i'll wait until we actually know the score before slagging Kane off but meanwhile I won't be shy. We all know how this has happened :D

Only, imo, if we didn't replace him in some other way. Replacing Kane with an out-and-out Striker wouldn't be as much of a replacement as a number 10.

Kane is a bit like Messi in his role, floating around a bit further back, so we'd need to go for more of a Bruno Fernandes type if we want to replace his contributions.

Or give Dele a real kick up the arse. Either way, we'll not have much fun if we replace him with a striker, necessarily.
But if we don’t replace him with a striker then we the senior striker at the club is Scarlett. Now I know that Levy has left us a bit short many a time, I just don’t think this is necessarily the best time to try to pull that move.

If he had been respectful in wanting to leave and honest then fine but he hasn't been so he deserves the scorn that has been directed to him. I don't begrudge him his move but I thought he may act differently, similar to how Grealish is acting, shut the fuck up and let it play out and do your talking on the pitch. He's been completely unprofessional in trying to get his move, I hope he gets it and we get the money that we demand and not a penny less and we can move on without him.

Not sure that it’s for this thread, really, but I’ve seen others saying that they would be happy to sell Harry for X amount plus Laporte or Jesus or Silva.

But what about Nathan Ake? He might not be top notch but he’s more than decent and we need a left sided CB. He would also help our home grown quota.

So far Harry Kane did not turn up for a Covid test this Monday, but then he could be tested for that at the end of his road if there's a test centre there. It's on Tuesday that he, and presumably some other international players, are due to turn up for training. Even then I imagine their first few hours will be spent being introduced to and meeting with Nuno.

And I'd be wary of jumping to angry conclusions about Harry Kane based on present so flimsy a basis. That's the difference with mass media where they can paint scenarios and shit-stir because to them it's just a chance to grab listeners and readers.

Doesn't it take twenty four hours for a covid test to be returned? That would make Wednesday more likely for his first day back?

Apologies if already mentioned but this page is moving fast with new posts but a friend of mine sent me this Re Kane - I saw him in bahamas Saturday. He arrived London Sunday earliest. With double vaccine you have to isolate until you do day 2 test so legally earliest he can go training is Wednesday. He just spent 2 weeks in Joe Lewis house so I would say relations are not too bad. Don’t let that ruin a good story.
Not true you don't isolate but have to take a test before day 2

He's signed a lucrative 6 year deal that saw him earning about 12 million/year so 72 million. If he wanted a way out why didn't he negotiate a release clause? Now he refuses to train so he can move to City for less than we value him at because City want to buy both Kane and Grealish? if City pay what we want he can go. If not then dock him his wages and fine him for every day of training he misses. If the season starts and he comes around then send him to the u23s to build up his fitness and show his commitment. If he doesn't come around he can rot away in the stands and watch his career go down the drain. He could kiss Shearer's record goodbye and his World Cup chances too. No man is bigger than the badge. Sorry for the rant just so exhausted and frustrated. :(

That's just semantics that people fret over. Son can easily play CF.

If you wanted to go by the positional aspect of a Striker (if Son isn't one), then neither is Harry, really.

Llorente is probably the only 'Striker' (e.g. Zlatan type) that we've had in the last god knows how long. Maybe Vinicius. Didn't see him enough to know what he did, really.

Nice one. Of course we all love Sonny but he scores goals mostly because he's playing alongside Harry and they 'feed' off each other. They've been playing together for the past six years so of course they have a brilliant understanding...but with no Harry...? As much as I love Sonny, I doubt if he or anyone else can fit inside Harry's shoes, but God I hope I'm wrong and you're right.
.

Probably isn’t a better option we could get though. He has become a really good finisher. I’d rather play Son as striker than probably anyone we have been linked to (although we obviously still need to get a striker in)

I expect in his excitement, Charlie Kane ordered his new Lamborghini after the Neville interview.

The dealership have phoned and requested the balance, so he now has Harry locked in the basement and Man City on speed dial.

Football fans are a fickle bunch.

Liverpool fans were starting to turn on Gerrard when he told Chelsea he wanted to join them, only for a dramatic u-turn after he received death threats towards him and his wife. Now he is arguably their most loved ever player.

Rooney was up for leaving Man Utd. Was up for joining Man City. Then this happened and suddenly he signed a new contract the next day - https://www.manchestereveningnews.c...-news/wayne-rooney-dials-999-as-united-901524 - then became their record goalscorers and a club legend.

Am not saying I want death threats against Kane and his family, but if this transfer doesn't go through then people will forget about this and forgive him in the same old ways here too. "Was all just a misunderstanding, he never really wanted to go." etc etc etc. Modric quite openly said he wanted to join Chelsea whilst still a Tottenham player and then went on strike all summer to get his move, but after he scored that screamer against Liverpool in September then guess what...the fans were singing his name again.

That all being said - I just think there's a part of my respect for him that has gone forever. Wanting out of this mad house is completely understandable, but having watched him in the last couple of weeks a) talk to The Sun b) talk to a state that proactively oppresses women and LGBT people amongst others, and c) refuses to even turn up and train with his team mates despite being paid a handsome wage for doing so....well I really have to question the character of a man who does all of these things...

Also - does Kane not realise he needs to get fit for the new season? How many times have we seen players not train properly in pre-season and then look way off the pace when the season starts? Kane himself has often looked slow and isolated when he's come back from long injury lay-offs.

Can see it now - PL record £150m+ transfer, Kane failing to score in his first few games and everyone coming for him saying he was a waste of money and that City should have signed Haaland instead.

I would like to think that armed with 160 million we could find a shoe-in somewhere in World football. As good as Harry is, he hasn't cornered the market in World class quality strikers.
