He does in some. City away last season he was superb.

Can't expect him to do it every game.

However, when he has a game like tonight in a big game, it completely hinders our play. The Ball goes through him and if he continuously has a poor touch or holds onto the ball too long then a large percentage of our attacks transpire to nothing.

At this level, you can't win big games like so.

I've watched Lewandowski tonight and he has missed 2 chances but he's also been very sharp on the ball, that's often the case with him too.

Kane will give 8 or 9s our of 10 about 80% of the time. Then he'll give you a 3 out of 10 for 2 or 3 games.

Sadly, if you want to win titles it has to be more consistent.
Really enjoyed reading your response.

interesting and measured, definitely agree with you mate. ??

One thing I find funny about Kane is that he moans about not being able to play at the highest level at Spurs in the CL etc etc and then when we finally get to the CL he serves up that type of performance.

I know every player can have off games, but I’ve picked him out as he’s always the one moaning at how he deserves to play in the CL but then when he finally gets there he doesn’t turn up.

It’s a bit similar when he moans he hasn’t won anything but when we’ve got to finals and semi finals he doesn’t turn up.

I know he is an incredible goal scorer and a legend but sometimes you think he’d turn up in the big games more often than he does. Same in the World Cup and the euros, went missing when it mattered.

Has he played in a final/semi final where we were expected to win? We usually go into these things as underdogs. has there been an occasion where the team have created a good chance for him? I think it's as much about our approach to these games as Harry's performances.

Ignoring the world cup golden boot as I'm sure people will say they weren't big games he scored in the semi final of the Euros. It was a penalty rebound, but it still put us into the final.

It's a bit petty to say they're trying to stay relevant. They very much are relevant. Despite not having Premier League money they have always remained competitive in Europe. There's every chance they want Kane and believe they can get him, and what's more Kane might even be interested. People keep saying 'we need to get top 4 to keep Kane', well it might not be enough to just qualify. Kane's time at the top is running out and he might want to move to a team that stands an immediate chance of winning such competitions. Sure Germany may not be his first choice but if his options are limited by the number of teams that can afford him AND have room for him then it's very plausible he'd go.

Unless of course he values that Premier League top scorer accolade higher but I'd be surprised if that were the case.

Yes but I guess the point is the true greats drag teams through games. They come up with moments of magic when it matters. Kane has never scored in a final which is poor.

It's a fair point. As fantastic as Kane is and has been in plenty of big games over the years (record scorer in London derbies and vs Arsenal, performances vs City etc) he's rarely showed up in the crucial cup games when it really matters.

Incredible player but not one to really drag the whole team over the line in the critical moment, especially in the cups, which is a part of why England and Spurs haven't won anything despite coming close.

I don't think that is too relevant that we were underdogs, we were hardly a league one side up against European giants. If Kane needs to play for the favorite team in a final in order to deliver, well....that's not exactly a good defence.

I think Kane playing so badly is currently our biggest issue. Our game relies so heavily on Kane's hold up play, but he's so sluggish right now that he's second to nearly everything, and when he does get hold of it his passing is miles off. This is probably part of the reason Son is struggling, he's thrived off Kanes distribution for a few years but just isn't getting that service at the moment. Kane is an unbelievable finisher, and when he's on it an unbelievable allround player, but we've built our team around him for ages so when he's off form we just don't function very well as a team. Thankfully he is still scoring, but he has gone through these prolonged periods where has has lacked sharpness on and off for years now, and that is normally reflected in lethargic performances from the team.

My very big worry is he's not even having great amount of shooting opportunities. In fact, our front 3 are so limited by their shooting chances. All of them are such good finishes but the problem is getting them in the position to shoot in the first place which we are having such a stinker at the moment.

Perhaps because we rely on them to be our creative players as well. We just kind of force the ball forward to them and hope they can create something. They just aren't doing that at the moment, which is especially obvious when kulusevski isn't in the team. Of course it doesn't help that our midfield and RWB have all the cutting edge of a satsuma, but that matters less when our forwards are firing on all cylinders.

So if he does leave us to win something, he's not going to go to a club where he's pretty much guaranteed to win something? ?‍♂️.
And Manchester City have won the premier league in four of the last five seasons and are favourites to win it again. We've become a two team League which isn't much better.
No we haven't.

I said it yesterday within the match thread during half time that Kane looked off form. If we're a big team and need a competitive squad, then even fantastic players like Kane need to be rotated on occasion. Why does an on-form Kulusevski have to be the player dropped to the bench to make way for out-of-form Son and Kane? Richarlison was brought in to compete across the front line and so we could have played him through the middle, flanked by Son and Deki.

It's a wider issue with Conte seemingly trusting the same first 11 every match, but really we should be rotating all outfield players including Kane once every 4 or 5 games to keep them fresh and hungry.

There is going to be a time when Harry does slow down, not saying this is it but when it does come I don't see this club ever having the bottle to drop him. He probably has a fair bit more in the bank at the moment but on the form so far in the games this season, both he and Son do not deserve to be starting ahead of Kulusevski and Richarlison.

I really hope he gets his mojo back soon, we are going to need it

Its almost like both of them are concerned about getting injured before the WC, which you half wouldnt blame them in a way. Another reason this whole season is total bollox.

It's easier for the great players to have an effect on a final when they play on a great team though.

As I said it's as much about the teams performance as about his. Stop the supply to him and he didn't have any influence on the game. It's one of the reasons that I think he's adapted his game and dropped deeper in recent seasons.

That was a slight exaggeration, but I do think that city's dominance is a worry. If they win five out of six titles then our league will look pretty predictable. People talk about how competitive the premier League is, but Bayern lost as many games last season as Liverpool and City combined.

Doubt it. Leagues usually have a dominant team/s like this. The Prem however has changed over time. We had a decade where the title went to either Arsenal or United with United winning 7 of them. Why? Fergie. Similar could be said now because of Pep. I know they have money but United have always had money and failed to maintain that dominance since OWF left.

In the last 10 years the Prem has seen 5 different winners, and we have also had 5 different teams come runners up. Can any other top league can get close to boasting that much diversity as far as number of title winners? No, no other league even gets close.

There are 7-8 teams in the Prem who if they get it right could potentially win the title over the next 10 years imo, could you say that about any other league? Maybe Serie A at a push but it's the only one other than the Prem.

In other leagues the big money clubs pretty much always have it their own way. In the EPL there are quite a few teams that have the financial muscle to win a title but to do that they need to get everything else spot on as well. If they don't the title goes elsewhere. In Germany France or Spain, that isn't the case. The big sides are so far financially ahead of everyone else even second tier managers could win titles.

As you say there have been five winners of the premier league in ten years, but only six in the last twenty years. Germany has had five different winners in twenty years so not much difference. Bayern's complete dominance is a recent thing. City aren't that far behind them. As for runners up in the last ten years they've had Dortmund, Leipzig, Schalke and Wolfsburg. Again not that different to the premier League.

I agree with you about the money so in theory other clubs should have a chance to win the league, but it's difficult to catch the dominant clubs who have the pick of the best players.

You say Bayern's dominance is a recent thing, but they have won more Bundesliga titles than every other team combined(Bundesliga started in the early 60's). That does tend to suggest otherwise.

Was today a big game?
Yes or no Harry and Son were extremely poor yet again.

From your response you obvious don’t think it was but I just feel so let down by him again.
He’s an amazing player but he’s consistently very poor in games that matter with very few exceptions.
