I think he was going to take him off earlier but iirc, Maguire took a knock to the noggin and he had to change the subs.
Remember Wilson being on the sidelines, ready to go, then having to go sit back down again for 10 minutes.

With only having 2 actual strikers in the squad and a lot of attacking forwards/mids, Southgate has hamstrung himself a tad.
If he'd any sense he would have tried to use other strikers in the pointless games Kane has played 90 in then, and he wouldn't be so hamstrung by being afraid to pick more than 2 strikers.

Southgate's a **** for keeping him on.

Always overusing Kane too this isn't the first time. Leaves him on for 90mins in nothing games too.
To be fair we've not exactly rested him going into the tournament. Should not have played in the Carabao Cup that's for sure.

Agree but he came off early at least. Southgate leaving him on for another 30mins when he's been down with a knock to his ankle is bordering on negligence

So every time a player goes down injured they should be taken off regardless of whether they think they're ok to continue? And regardless of the physio thinking they're ok to continue?

It was probably 15/20 mins max but may be wrong.
Anyway if Kane said he doesn’t feel right and wanted to come off he would’ve been straight off, he obviously felt fine

I'm sure that was more Kanes decision to carry on and see if he recovered. If he signaled to come off then fair enough but he played on and didn't look too bad. He also got a good assist before he came off. I think fans are just being overly critical because of his past injuries to the ankle when it looked more like a knock. Most likely just some swelling.

Hopefully you're right with that.

Regardless of any of this, and whether Kane said he felt fine or not, Southgate needs to be stronger when someone gets a knock. First game of the world cup, 3-0 up, no need to let Kane continue.

Not going to change my mind in thinking Southgate is and always has been a total prick in his over use of Kane.

An already knackered Kane, picks up another ankle injury, in the first game of a tournament which should never have been authorised.

I try to be optimistic but it's easy to succumb to the feeling THFC are cursed.

Convince me i'm being OTT.

Think of it this way. If he’s injured for three weeks he’ll get a nice rest before our next game. Fuck the World Cup.

He'll play on with a slight injury that he'll make worse and come back properly injured. Surely there is literally no other outcome.

I’m hoping its either nothing at all, or serious enough to send him home for that exact reason. I don’t trust Southgate to do the sensible thing.

I would be gutted for him. I don't why our fans are so selfish when it's clear our players want to perform at the world cup. It's the same for Romero, I hope they can perform and remain healthy.

Dunno if it's been previously mentioned but Harry sees an independent physio for his injuries now.

Andros Townsend was on talksport earlier and said Harry, for the last couple years or so, has been seeing a Spanish physio based in London and Andros does now too. When you have your first appointment it's six hours long, and he doesn't even ask what injury he has, he wants to find out for himself by feeling every part of the body (no, not that part too you wrong'uns) and he is able, just by touch, to identify past and present injuries.

Andros said that Harry was waxing lyrical about him, so it would explain how he hasn't had many injuries, or even major injuries, over the past two plus years or so.
