Hypothetically, if he went to Chelsea would it be on the same level as Campbell?
No.

Poch - our most popular manager since who knows when - just went to Chelsea and the reaction has been muted. If he’d gone to Arsenal then it would have been very different.

Cannot see him going to R.Madrid, I think he'll want to break Shearers record.

Most likely he will run down his contract then Haaland will go to Madrid summer of 2024 as his dad and agent has said previously that Erling won't stay at City that long as he wants to play in many leagues, then Kane will sign for City on a free, if not then Man.U or another very well positioned PL team, perhaps even Newcastle by that point.

i get that its a hell of a record and a great one to have, but if Madrid seriously come in for him and he turns it down on this basis i'll judge him for it!

Would be crazy to turn down a concrete move to Madrid now for another year at Spurs, to me anyway.

How about Harry signs a new 5 year deal and we loan him to Madrid for the first two years of it (for a hefty fee) so he can try and win something…

No chance. Our rivalry with Chelsea is not the same as Arsenal. There's just a hatred for them that came up after they got the Russian owner. He's gone now anyway but there's still hate for them left over. We've had Hoddle and Greaves represent both clubs though. Kane hasn't lead us to believe he will sign a new contract and then sneak off to another team. I think he's been very transparent over what he wants and we have failed to deliver that. If he goes to Chelsea it will suck but I don't think it's the same Chelski we've hated for many years. Just the odd idiot fans bring them down but most clubs have those. I don't think he will go there anyway but there's no way we would have so much hate for him. Campbell is the ultimate judas and the fans still sing hate songs all these years later. Kane will be loved forever here.

Hypothetically, a little bit. Significant difference is Campbell was intimating that he would be signing a new contract with us, so I still don't view it on a par.

There's still time for Kane to do the same.

Here's to hoping we can somehow keep him. Even if it's a 1 year extension, as I feel the next 2 years of spurs is going to be make or break for the new cycle. Having someone like Kane will ease the process for sure.

I don't think Kane would contemplate going to Chelsea, and even then I don't see it in a similar way to Poch, since we apparently haven't tried Poch back, and it's unreasonable to ask someone to be unemployed because of us. Kane is a player, from our youth team, and clearly there would be a desire to keep him here, even if it is almost unanimous that he deserves a better team than the one we are offering him. If the option is on the table, he should go to Real, because as long as Guardiola is with City, going to another PL team doesnt give you titles, he may win something and break the record, but with Real he can win something and maybe even dream with the Ballon d'or.

He’s said to G.Nev in the past that a move abroad doesn’t interest him

Ask Alan sugar about it. He said he turned down 18m from Man Utd because they thought he was signing a contract.

Poch didn't sneakily run down his contract and cheat us out of a transfer fee, so he owes us nothing.

may be in the minority, but personally would rather him leave on a free and get another year out of him. that 100m, while useful to rebuild with, isn't the be-all-and-end-all for me.

having kane kick spurs in the right direction for another 12months, helping us getting CL is more valuable.

and i shouldn't say it, but i'd love it if he extended for a year or two as well. i simply, because i'm romantic, don't want him to go.

I'm not sure. Poch went to Chelsea because, based on what we are led to believe, we didn't want him or even make contact with him. I would agree that if he had chosen Arsenal instead of Chelsea in this situation it would grate a bit more.

However, I think its different with a player directly leaving us for a rival.

If Kane ran down his contract and then joined Chelsea it would be very close to the Campbell/Arsenal situation and he would torch his relationship with us.

I'm pretty sure he values his history and relationship with us and won't end up at Chelsea.

I think being number 9 for Real Madrid and most likely winning some trophies surpasses beating Shearer’s record imo. He will live to regret turning that down as it is an iconic club.

Ultimately, this is probably the best outcome we can hope for, I cannot see him signing a new contract under any realistic circumstances.
