I'm equally concerned about what that says for the club's ambitions.

I think it says nothing about the club's ambitions, more about our situation. We need a rebuild, and time has run out of Kane's patience, he doesn't want to spend the time it takes to be behind pushing again, he want to be in front and win. Which is unlikely for us even if we spend 300m in the summer, as things takes time.

If people want us to be strong again, it's time to get behind the club. Levy always adjust when something has taken the wrong direction.

Think the writing's on the wall re Kane. Think the the only thing that would keep him at Spurs is if we get Pep in as coach...

Teams will spend more next year, but maybe Mbappe sale can inflate the market. Wouldn't sell for only 150m, Coutinho and Dembele went for similar money, it should be closer to 200m.

Oh bum flaps.

I really hope we get more than £140million, he’s in the prime of his career, England Captain, scores for fun, doesn’t miss penalties, is the ultimate professional (apart from all this), and is a leader..

That’s gotta be more than £140million even in a pandemic.
With Aguero going, the #10 shirt is available. Don’t think they’d be willing to add some players to the mix. They certainly have the money tho.
Man Utd would struggle with the money, but have players they could throw in - Martial for example.

Either way, I seriously hope that Levy gets us the best possible deal, £140million plus Martial, or £160million then go and buy a CB, Dybala, Toney, and Sabitzer.
COYS
If I could disagree a 1000 times I would.
Fuck Martial mate. He is shit and offers nothing.
I would rather £140 and they keep Martial. He will just take us a space in the squad and cost a salary. No no no

The worry is, even if we get a ridiculous fee, we’re probably not going to be playing in Europe next season, so are we even going to attract the right type of player? All depends on the new manager I guess.
Looking at this completely objectively, I don’t blame Kane, although not happy with how he’s gone about it. Club is an absolute mess.

i really don't want him coming back tbh. didn't feel comfortable with the bale thing but at least he went abroad: kane's forcing a move to a team that will stand in the way of our success. players shouldn't be able to leave and return when they're over the hill and they want an ego rub

He'll never be what he was, there's no Totti status for him anymore. But we've been here before with Sheringham, it will feel ok the day he return, most of the love will have gone, but if he's still good enough people will get over it. He'll be back in 5+ years to take the record.

What's going to be so interesting is how Levy will try and sell this to fans.

Losing bale was shit but in no way did fans have same connection to bale as we do with Kane. We were nowhere near the status required to keep bale from Madrid but we should have been to keep Kane from wanting to go.
I am not Anti levy but this is largely on him for getting Poch that pissed off that he would no longer accept us not signing his first choices that ultimate led to him being sacked, his inability to recognise that there has to be some movement allowed in negotiations for selling players which has resulted in a stale & bloated squad with too many average players and then his decision to appoint Jose which was an incredibly stupid decision given how his last 2 jobs has gone with diminishing returns at both.

If he doesn't walk away from the footballing side after selling Kane then he will never be forgiven by the fans.

JJ followed up with ”But if they don’t pay they won’t get”.

So, we would sell if someone (City?) paid what we want. Hopefully that’s at least £175m given his contract situation, and hopefully we won’t budge.

I think this kind of question has been answered a million times. I doesn’t affect for a year or two no..

If you sell your star player to a domestic rival when they have 3 years left on their contract then you are admitting defeat. That would be the saddest thing about this. I thought the new stadium was meant to stop us doing this kind of thing? That’s why I still believe he’ll be here next season. Levy can’t justify this sale at any price.

Said last week my contact was adamant he was leaving and I was given a hard time by a few. I still don't believe the £90m I was told but you can possibly see where that came from now with Kane himself viewing his value around the £100m mark. Personally don't think we sell for less than a combined value of £150m whether that be cash or cash and players.

As much as I despise Daniel Levy at this moment in time.. think this is the one thing I fully trust him with to get the maximum transfer fee possible for Kane.

personally I’d take £150m + Ake.

I don’t think 150m in enough to be fair. COVID or not it isn’t our problem. To a direct rival has to be 175-200m. Hazard was 140m ffs.

Players care only about wages, Chelsea had no issues buying players after finishing 10th.

I’m not even sure what the right type of player is anymore. So many variables. The player, Levy, the manager, the selling club, the ambition. We haven’t been had a true focus on success for years. Everyone pulling together for the same goal. Our ambition falls way short of a trophy when it all adds up so we won’t be building a trophy winning squad. That’s your market for a new manager and players right there. At best we’re a stepping stone club. Took Kane a while but he knows it.

I’m really not so sure we will get as much as we are hoping. I just can’t see Levy keeping an unhappy player here. He’ll cave in the end.
