Even though I can't stand the guy. He was the right man to come on for Ndombele, and did just fine with his fresh legs. It was primarily for his energy he came on.

I agree. Winks is one of the players who suffered most from Mourinho's system. And that's saying a lot considering how many players looked terrible in Mourinho's system.

I think what really turned a lot of people against him however is those comments he made about needing to play plus the bit of ITK we received about him being a disruptive force in the dressing room. Personally I think that stuff has been blown way out of proportion and some fans (especially those looking to defend Mourinho) have been way too keen to pile in on someone who is essentially a squad player.
I take ITK as what it generally seems to be... agents leaking choice gossip for their own benefit. AKA, pinch of salt.

He played solid 20 minutes, did absolutely nothing special, but at least has not made any mistakes. Not more, not less.

Absolutely. Me too. I trust my own eyes and experience of having followed football for 30 years before ITK. But I guess everyone has a certain interpretation of events and ITK is sometimes invoked to support a particular point of view.

The place is so fucking fickle lol

I thought his guy was meant to be be the devil reincarnate and first our the door?
He’s still right at the top of the list of players we should be looking to move on imo. Performances and (if ITK is to be believed) attitude have not been anywhere near good enough. A good showing off the bench against Southampton doesn’t change that. Nothing wrong with being fair and recognising when a player you don’t rate does put in a decent shift imo but I can see how it would appear fickle if it seems like someone’s stance has done a whole 180 off of one game.

20 mins of decent play doesn't undo at least 2 years of mostly average performances

If Trix's info is true then he needs to be one of the first out the door at the end of the season.

Can't have poisonous players destroying the atmosphere when trying to rebuild a squad. He would need to be a pretty special player to allow for that sort of thing and he's not even close.

I'm not saying you're wrong at all, but I bet a load of Man Utd fans were saying exactly the same about Luke Shaw before Mourinho got binned.

So her certainly proved to everyone that he should be the mainstay of the side didn’t he...............

Honestly, I like the guy but what does he do? He isn’t good enough.

He's not very good at all and he keeps being given chances and continually proves he's not very good. Please just get rid. It's tiresome.

I’d unfortunately put decent money on him and Alli being here again next season.

Probably right I can't see why anyone would want Winks unless we're basically giving him away because we don't want a snake in the dressing room. As for Alli no doubt Levy will price him based on his first couple of years with us when he was young player of the year etc rather than what he is now, which nobody will be prepared to pay.

Wasn't totally against him starting. Could see some merit. But not taking him off on the hour is a sackable offence

He has now started our last 2 Cup finals
