I will never be able to look back at this season and be pleased with it. It will be a constant reminder of shame and embarrassment.

I think it's bullshit about the players 'learning' from these sort of experiences, they're always going to have this collapse on them and always be under more pressure if we ever get to this position again. And obviously they'll crumble.

Tottenham Hotspur. Perennial failures.

Another false dawn

First 4 games average. The middle 30 was excellent. The final 4 was absolutely atrocious and it was like watching a car crash over and over again. So overall a good but not great season.

7/10...Would have taken 3rd at start of season without hesitation....but cant accept last 4 games.
Clear we have a strong first XI ...when available,
Underneath that is nowhere near good enough. Lets see if we spend what we need to, and move on who we need to.
Big Summer ahead.

A few years back on Christmas Day I received some fantastic presents in the morning

A couple of hours later, my mum accidentally crushed my middle finger in the front door; the pain was crazy and that was the end of Christmas Day for me. No dinner, no cake, no nothing.

It took a couple of months to heal up, but when it was done, I still had all the Christmas presents still waiting for me.

That's how I feel right now :)

I think we've made strides in consistency of our application - work rate, pressing etc and we looked much fitter than any other Spurs side I have seen in 20 years. These are good foundations to be built on, and these attributes have stood us in good stead as the top teams have lurched from one crisis to another. In contrast we just kept on going and have ended up with our best ever league position in the PL ere. That isn't to be sniffed at.

However I've always been of the opinion that the team hasn't been the best thing since sliced bread that a lot of other fans have crowed on about. I've said all along that our football could be better, for me a lot of it is more aesthetically pleasing than of actual purpose. Even though we have been topping a lot of the stats, I think we have to improve it still. I don't think we do well the majority of times that teams press us, and I've continually said that our game management, particularly when leading games, specifically keeping the ball could be better.

I think our stumble at the finish line shows that when the energy, verve and bluster goes out of game we dotn have a huge amount behind that. and we've got to strive to improve next season on improving the 'football' foundations rather than just relying on the hard work and fitness one. Even if we do have a patch of the season where we look heavy legged and/or emotionally drained, I think we have to be clearer in what we are trying to do and how to get at teams. In recent games we have just looked incoherent as we play slow tippy tappy go-nowhere football. I think we could do with a bit more individual quality, as well as clearer principles of play and how we go about attacking teams.

At the end of the day you can argue and add caveats to exactly how good the season has been... We've finished in our highest PL position (but in a unique season where the top clubs have been various shades of poor), though not matched our highest points total (but in a league that has probably the greatest depth in quality it has had, and is at its toughest team for team)... I think (almost) everyone would agree that for 90% of the season we've seen good, positive signs of a team moving forward and building stronger foundations, but with a substantial dent and setback at the end. Being taken down a peg or two doesn't have to be a bad thing though, even though we're all pissed off and going to have endure the flak of the footballing community over the coming days... Let's hope it acts as a bit of a kick up the arse and focuses minds, particularly Poch's... We will have to improve greatly again next season and cant afford to rest on our laurels. So much more hard work to go.

This still isn't as bad as the 11/12 season IMO. Only time I've felt physically sick after a football match (CL final).

We've been humbled - the players and fans.

Those that remain, learn, come back stronger and wiser, with more resolve and better conduct.. they are not just worth still having around, but are valuable in making the unit stronger.

Those that don't should take a long hard look in the mirror, or alternatively just put it behind them, dust it under the carpet and fuck off to pastures presumed greener. There's no loss there and it frees up spaces for more of the good strong stuff needed to win.

I think we've made tremendous progress from last year. Real shame the players have let themselves down toward the end.

Hopefully we don't just blithely think we can get by with one striker, no DM etc etc like last year as it has well and truly bitten us in the arse!

The players don't give a fuck

The way they played showed that

They haven't been humbled, they just went on their holidays or started preparing for the Euros after the Chelsea game. They clearly couldn't give a fuck about the last two games because they made no effort in them and got rolled over by two inferior teams who were prepared to work harder and wanted the win more

One of those sides being Newcastle who had just been relegated, who struggled to score all season and who managed to score 5 past us despite having 10 men. I have had issues with our character and mentality since the Leicester cup game but today's showing has raised serious concerns in this area for me. Today was very much a reversion to the Hoddle team of the early '00s and the Graham side of the late '99s and it simply a terrible starting position to start a new season from.

embarrassingly Spursy even in a season when all we have needed is one win in the last 4 games to finish above the scum we failed. And to think AVB was sacked for being battered against a title chasing Liverpool & this so called great Spurs team just got smashed to bits by a ten man relegated Newcastle team. Our defense was ripped apart by Townsend a player most ppl ridiculed. We have outdone ourselves with all the mind the gap bollox etc finishing above Arsenal is not winning a trophy so that is not what I'm most disappointed with its the fact even when every teams been shit we still won f all that's what happens when you become snobbish in the cup competitions. Liverpool win on Wednesday and they get a trophy & exactly the same thing we did a Champions league spot.
Gutted.

Not one person on this site or in the press had us finishing above 6th place.

The last 4 games have been royally shite, but let's not forget that 5 games ago we were all jizzing over the fact that we could win the league.

No doubt it's been a good season. We qualified outright for CL although we just fell apart when we needed to be strong losing to an already relegated team when we only needed a draw to secure 2nd place...leaves the most bitter taste I'm the mouth.

Now we have to shut up and swallow the medicine dished out by Arsenal.
