All our key players who have left over the years have gone on to win major honours one or two years after. Says a lot about us really. We always have individual brilliance but that’s it. Carrick, Berbatov, Bale, Trippier, Walker, eriksen and I’m pretty sure Kane will be next. :(

kane probably see this Aswell hence why he wants to leave. We will never fulfill his ambitions and have a strong capable team of challenging.

Is it weird that on the back of everything we’re hearing, and the most underwhelming season filled with horrors like Zagreb and now the exodus, I’m really hoping we tear it down to start again? I’m not normally a fan of revolution over evolution as I tend to worry that the identity gets lost along the way… but it just feels like we need revolution this time. Keep a handful of the core professionals who still give it 100% to help hold the identity of We Are Tottenham Hotspur, but gut the spine, new CB, new engine room, new striker partnership, focus on youth, look to the likes of Aarons at Norwich, bring Skipp and Sess home, and plunder some talented youth. We’re still an attractive package to the right manager, and there will be money there as fans won’t be gone forever, so it’s not unreasonable to think there’s a 200m spend coming over this window. Sure we won’t attract the established names we might have with Jose as our lure, but London is one of the most exciting cities in the world, the Prem is the most coveted league in the world, and we are a sleeping giant that someone with the right level of ego will think ‘I can wake them up…’

Would be nice if we could do that but we'd need the right manager and DOF to get it done. It's the main reason I would like Galtier and Campos to join us. Of course, there are no guarantees (as those who virtually guaranteed trophies and winning mentality under Mourinho will confirm), but at least it would be exciting. Levy would have to accept a few financial hits to allow us to clear the decks but, in spite of what so many drama queens say, I'm sure he has the best interests of the club at heart and is as desperate for success as any of us.

It feels like the dawn of a new era for us, mainly because we're currently left sitting in the rubble of a disasterous season, but the optimist in me is quite looking forward to it at the moment. Of course, that could all go up in a puff of smoke when the new Boss is unveiled, but for the time being I'm quite intrigued.

I’ve seen a lot of this after Eriksen ‘won’ serie a with Inter but he only played full 90mins twice so he’s been a bit part watching his teammates do the business.

This is unlikely to be popular opinion but of the players you mentioned only Gazza would make it into our current starting line-up.
Klinsmann too maybe but he's only had 1 productive season for us.

anderton would play. Extremely good player and could play across the whole of midfield. Excellent passer and crosser of the ball and a sexy mofo to boot.

It's unfair to say this..but I'm not convinced...maybe when fit, but not often for sick-note.
The numbers aren't great either.

For me it's a combination of things.

Poch handed them success on a plate, he saw them through playing at Wembley on zero budget snd kept us in the champions league. They sort of backed him in the end but it was too late and they sacked him.

So I look at enics record and think it's atrocious. Sure the stadium and training ground is impressive but were now hugely in debt and they aren't paying for it at all. The club is in huge debt now for it and we're still not able to compete

Then you look at the red sponsor, the ticket prices , the Stratford attempt, the super league attempt without a moments fan consultation and back to ticket prices. These pricks charged DOUBLE what everyone else did for that villa game and still people defend them.

The players don't give a shit. Kane would have done anything to fuck off and get that oil money, they're so rich the disconnect us huge.

I think football is especially guilty of this as it gets dirtier and dirtier but enic have ruined the connection. They don't give a shit and they don't hide it

You could excuse it if we were winning and enjoying it but we're not . We're a boring to watch average team being run by a group of people who care first and foremost about making money through off pitch stuff than anything on the pitch.

It's shit

Yeah but Fergy wanted him blah blah blah

He didn’t watch him every week! Great in an England shirt, ordinary for most of his games in a spurs shirt

Yeah....also for me Anderton is purely technical, is he going to be able to play at today's intensity? The game has moved on.

Its a general issue with the 'what if' questions.

I felt more disconnected several times. The period under Gross. The trouble between Sugar and Venables. Graham being appointed although I did warm to him somewhat. The way Jol got sacked. Applying to play at the Olympic stadium. The period at the end under AVB. Last season against Prague. There are more but I can't think of them right now. The truth is I am never really disconnected because I carry this club and the love for it with me, everyday. I do switch off from time to time and when things are bad nowadays I simply spend time with my daughters because why wouldn't you ? But on the flip side when we have some happiness or moment or when I feel proud of us there is very little better. Because I love it. I don't think you can feel disconnected with something consciously if you have not been or are not currently very connected with it. Tottenham Hotspur are in that category for me....

Tim Sherwood. The only time I actually wanted us to lose games my whole life was when he was manager. 6 months ago I was close to how I felt under him but never as bad.

Great post.

I think feeling connected is ultimately when the club are performing well in terms of results and style of play so we get enjoyment from watching the team week in week out and enjoyment from winning more than we are losing.

I felt ‘connected’ under Jol, Redknapp and Poch, otherwise all other times in the last 30 years I’ve felt like the club is in a mess with no belief in the people in charge on the football side that they know what the fuck they’re doing or that they’re capeable of putting a good plan together.

It’s not just the football. I think part of the issue is we all basically expect it to get worse, and none of us want to have to go through that.

Hand on heart I couldn’t tell you truthfully that I expect Nuno to be at the club in 18 months. It makes it hard to get excited about what is to come.

I feel completely disconnected at the moment, certainly the most in a very very long time. I’ve just lost all optimism. From Poch not being backed, to watching our fantastic squad stagnate and fall apart, to the sacking of Poch and appointment of Jose, to Jose being sacked followed by the appointment of Nuno and ultimately three years (who knows how many really) spent watching Spurs play shit negative football with no hope in sight. Added to this we have one of the best players we have ever produced desperately looking for the escape route because he, like us, sees the reality of our future. That there is none. Even the fact we got Bale back and he got stuck with Jose wasting him on the bench. I look at Ronaldo at MU and wish Bale had just been played all year by an attack minded coach. In fact my goodness, I’m even jealous of OGS, that’s how bad we have become. The worst thing is I have zero faith that once again, in a year or so’s time, when we realise that Nuno, like Jose, was the wrong choice and Poch still won’t be leaving PSG then Levy will yet again have no idea what to do and we will end up with another dud. Poch was very clearly complete luck. All this negativity has just grown more and more overwhelming. I used to look forward to watching us play and what a season holds. I would never even dream of missing a game. Now I’m at a stage were if my lady asks if I fancy going out for lunch or something I will probably say yes even if it’s during the match. The seasons only just started and already I find myself very close to complete apathy where Spurs are concerned. I really really hope Nuno can suddenly learn how to play attacking football but that’s a very unlikely thing to happen. And I just can’t deal with watching another season of my beloved team play anti football where even teams like West Ham and Wolves play better football then us and our players have lost all understanding of what it means to fight for the badge, or indeed, play a forward pass that isn’t a long ball.

I would say it’s only one game, but it’s not. We’ve scored one goal from open play in 4 games and was extremely fortunate to beat both Watford and wolves. The fact winks is back in the starting 11 aswell is unbelievable. We all said in the summer he has to go because he’s not good enough. It actually really pissed me off that he’s stuck around soiling any ambition we might have as a team. As for the football it’s been more flaccid than when we were playing under Jose. If this is what Daniel wanted when it comes to getting our DNA back he’s totally missed the boat and gone with someone again so very Spurs anti dna. If anyone thinks it’s going to change you’re dreaming! Just look at how Wolves used to play. Nuno is a lovely guy but he doesn’t match what we are as a club, so yes I think it will end badly again.
