See, I'm sure I read that Poch and Holtby did have a chat, Holtby was informed about the offer from Hamburg & the promise of regular football, then the rest is history. I can only apologise if I'm wrong..

I think his best position is probably as 1 of the deep-lying 2, and so does he. He just needs a consistent run in that position & I'm sure he'd grow as a player. He has a good eye for a pass, the ability to pull off that pass, and can put away the odd chance if it arises. He seems too eager to do everything, to please everyone. It's as though he's on a mission to cover every blade of grass, as if to get himself noticed more, especially by the supporters.

If a manager (Poch) could just get inside his head, tell him to just calm down, relax, , work when there's work to do, move when it's smart to move, pass when it's right to pass. There's definitely a player in there, in my opinion, it's just getting the consistency (in manager & position) to allow that player to come out.

You could very well be right and I agree there is no doubting the boy is enthusiastic and keen he just needs to channel his efforts as you say. There is no doubting the signings made in the last 2 years have suffered last season, there is no other explanation as to why so many name players such as Lamela and Soldado have so far under performed while other players like Eriksen and Chadli have only started to consistantly show some class under Poch.

You've phrased that like you think Mason/Bentaleb are rubbish?
It did look like that but I meant is he any less of a player than them? For that specific position I actually think he'd do well.

Doesn't change my mind that 4231 is the cause of buying football.

From what I have seen of him, he isn't as disciplined as Mason or Bentaleb he does go a bit headless chicken at times and his tackling can be rash. From what I have seen this season I would say he would be third choice behind them.

Totally agree. If he could be coached though.....

For sure, he has the heart and legs to be a great box to box player and needs some stability and coaching into a particular role. Thats why I found it odd that he went out on loan back to Germany after one season after saying it was his dream to play in Egland and for Spurs.

Yeah we really did fuck up with that Bale money didn't we :banghead:.. Let's just hope, whether Holtby comes back or not, Paul Mitchell & Poch can sort out the mess that was created during that spending spree.

He definitely had the heart, don't think he had the legs or the ability unfortunately.

Unbelieably so when you look at our best starting 11 at the minute only Eriksen and Chadli would be in they and there were the cheapest of the buys IIRC. Bentaleb, Mason and Kane have shown what our academy can produce, Bentaleb has only turned 20 which his position is quite remarkable, Kane at 21 I feel has every thing to be a top striker. I for one am not against giving our kids a chance, I would love more coming through and establishing themselves.

Agree 100% with every word of that. We can only hope (and it's looking extremely promising right now) that Poch & Mitchell are the major influence in bringing those youngsters through. I personally haven't seen anything of our youngsters, but the whole world knows how well we've fared in recent 'Next Gen' tournaments & youth leagues. When you have youngsters that are able to beat the likes of Barcelona, and absolutely batter the likes of Milan, you can't help but feel excited about our future.

The best thing, in my opinion, is I don't think supporters of other clubs are really that aware of just how well our youngsters have done? From what I've read about them on here & on various other sites, it's really only a matter of time until we see a steady stream of THFC developed youngsters coming through, dare I say it, not unlike our Pikey neighbours a decade or so ago, when we were getting it constantly rammed down our throats every time Wenger named his team for the League Cup.

If Poch thought this I would of thought he wouldn't of let him go on loan, I think he's played his last game for us. I broke my collar bone in school and yes it's horrendously painful.

See I think Poch was hamstrung in terms of who he had to cut. Holtby was the only serious candidate with suitors at the time, so wouldn't be surprised if his hands were tied by Levy.
