The reason I'm asking this is I fear our shock summer departure (as opposed to signing) may very well be Modric - to Man Utd.

Reasons:
1) Easily the best player in the Prem outside the big 4 - close 2nd is probably Cahill.
2) Has shown that he could play in the Prem. His game is going from strength to strength.
3) Good injury record
4) Can play in a variety of roles across midfield.

Only minus is goals - he doesn't score enough to replace Ronaldo. But no one in the world could so that's an irrelevant point.

Hopefully I'm wrong but Man Utd may be sniffing around.

What did we pay for Luca, 16m? I reckon Levy would take an extra 6m + profit for 1 seasons service

£35 million.
My reasons?
The Kaka, Ronaldo deals will have a knock on and people will be able to raise their prices.
If he goes we'd have to get 2 new first team midfielders.
Whilst without him leaving we're definately looking at one we'd need a new CM and LM.

£40 million. The supposed cost of relegation.

Reason - If we continually sell our players to Man U every season we will eventually go down. (Bit of an over-reaction I know but how sickening would it be??????)

I like your rationale - without Modric we have a realistic chance of relegation (if we repeat last season's early performance).

not for sell if any price, he is unlike Carrick, Keanr or even Berba, he is the future of our club.

£120m, if there are a club would get him.

If it's Arsenal £300m
If it's Manure £80m
If it's anyone else £35m

As a club were always going to sell, especially if the player makes it be aware that he is looking to move on to a CL side, though if we were to sell him I think around 35-45M would be necessary to at least give us a realistic chance of signing somone of equal ability.

Not that we upgrade or replace key players very well.

Turn down any bid, unless we're talking Ronaldo money.
£40m if his head is turned by a Champions League giant, think he'll want to stay for some years though.

£30 mill minumum.

I dont think Levy would accept any less for someone so young and so talented. Likewise for Lennon.

I may be the only one who thinks he hasnt done enough for Man U to bother dealing with Levy again.

But im sure Scumbag ferguson doesnt mind us keeping him warm for one more season, glad they got a taste of their own medicine though

Guess what, you are not the only one too. Modric showed some glimpses of his ability and potential but he is yet to be consistent enough to warrant a bid from Manure.

I would say that he is still a rough diamond in the making and another season with us should him polish up nice and bright. Any bids before the end of next season will be premature IMO.

That said, to answer the question posed in the thread, I would say that only a bid equaling what Manure paid for Berbs will be sufficient because he is the best we have and he can be one of the best in the league too.
