Your entitled to your opinion.

Not sure why you compare Rice with Dier when it’s been made clear that Dier will now be playing CB compared to Rice who is CDM?

In my opinion Rice plays over Winks, Sissoko and Gedson more or less every week.

A case could also be made for Anderson over Lamela. (potentially even Lucas).

My OP stated “squad improvements” not definitive starters.
I get what you’re saying but for me they also only stand out because they’re in a shit team, put them in a better squad like ours Chelsea etc they would stick out like a sore thumb, but understand they might improve a squad.

Only one of the CBs we’re linked to that I’ve seen, and he’s absolute gash. Looked alright for one season a couple of years back, but just looks so out of his depth now. Lumbers about, gets beaten to easily and is not aggressive at all.

Maybe he’s just passive because the spam are shite, but that doesn’t bode well for him coming here. Would rather Tanganga get minutes over him. No thanks.

West Ham fans have thought he’s terrible for ages. No thanks.
Yeah they really don't rate him at all.

KUMB:

He has many good assets to his game but for the best part is watching him step out of defense to make an interception. He does it a couple of times a game and it's just insane how quickly he's reading situations.

He's shown more than enough, especially before The Generals injury, to suggest he is a quality young player.

Outstanding today. This boy has all the right attributes to make it as a world class defender. Brilliant tackler, can dominate in the air, good at playing out from the back, athletic, and has a bit of pace too. That said, hope we can hold on to him for years to come

He is outstanding.
I can count on one hand the central defenders better than him in this division.

I got to see Diop a few times in the flesh before we signed him. Actually thought he was bound to end up at a top 6 side. He probably is at some stage in the future, a proper ball playing defender.

I think Issa is already a great defender, and he is only going to get better. We surely need to keep the likes of him and build the spine around him.

That's just from a couple of pages from last year. In fairness it's clear from their comments he's had some ups and downs in form but to say they unanimously think he's bad just ain't true.

Tbh I think it's all irrelevant anyway as West Ham have already had so much bad PR recently that there's no chance in hell they'd sell another young prospect, least of all to their 'main rivals'.

When I've seen him I have seen him step out and win the ball well, which shows great reading of the game. Which is also one of Skriniars strengths.

However I've seen him switch off defensively at times too. For example, both Arsenal goals last weekend came from his side and he showed poor positioning or a lack of desire to get across to stop the move.

Could do really well or could also flop. Really hard to know.

I would say someone not good enough for West Ham first 11 isn't top top defender which we need.

I've heard some West Ham fans compare Mark Noble to Steven Gerrard in the past so if they think this guy is shit, he can't be great.

Reminds me of our own fans. I mean Davies really has a solid point. What ever just happened to letting a people develop a bit?

Toby Sanchez Dier Tanganga coupled with two solid LBs and RBs, why is getting another defender a priority? Unless Issa Diop is a massive upgrade on who we already, which he is not, I would say no thanks

Neither Dier or Sanchez are reliable enough, Toby is on the way down and Tanganga is still very raw at CB and gets turned far too easily. Maybe Sanchez or Dier will step up, but I haven't seen enough signs to suggest they will anytime soon.

I'd say a top class CB would not only make a huge difference to our prospects this season but is also an absolute necessity in the long term. That said, Diop seems like another 'underperforming CB with high potential' (a bit like Sanchez) whereas Skriniar looks the real deal. If we can't get Skriniar I'd agree that we'd probably be better to sticking to our current lot and waiting until we can bring in someone genuinely top quality.

Eh? I could find loads where people are desperate for him to leave (from like this month).

Yeah fair enough - I've since seen the stuff on Twitter that backs up your point.

Personally I haven't seen enough of him to really judge, but it does seem that a lot of them rated him very highly once upon a time and he's lost his way. Question is, is he truly a bit shit or is he just lacking direction under shit management like most of that West Ham squad?

Personally think we would be mad to bring him in and let Foyth go. I'm not a even a big Foyth fan, but he certainly has at least as much potential Diop. If we are going to let Foyth go and improve our back 4 with someone the quality of Dias or Skriniar then I'm all for it, but if we are shopping around at this level I would prefer we go with what we've got, and give Tangaga and Foyth more game time.

You can quote me later if you like. This guy will go to the top. His POTENTIAL is astronomical. Had a bad season last year but can you blame a talent like him for not caring while playing for that shambles of a club? I’m convinced the second you put him into a top class team and get him focused he will shine

West Ham linked with 2 centre backs today. Tarkowski and Rodon from Swansea. @agrdavidsfan Im sure I’ve seen you mention Rodon before but I can’t remember if it was in a positive or negative way!

And Lamela has been tearing up trees? Interested to know what qualifies this opinion?

Not tearing up trees, but a better all round player than Anderson who barely plays for West Ham these days...FML
