Let's say that Adebayor is a definite done deal in the summer and we have enough funds to buy 2 more players.

The 2 players we must sign are Vertonghen and Remy, forget about Leandro and forget about Hazard.
The versatility and quality that those 2 bring is incredible, effectively you have signed 6 players for the price of 2.

Remy can play on the left,on the right and as a lone striker and Vertonghen can play CB,LB and CM,for me it's a no brainer.

Please, please sign these 2 players and we are looking at Premier League winners.

I'd prefer Leandro to Remy as Ade's back-up/competition.

Remy's a good option on the right, but I'm not convinced by him as a lone forward - think he lacks a bit of strength and awareness for that. Leandro though seems a proper centre forward.

I'd certainly take Remy as a plan b if we don't get Hazard though.

I disagree with this. For me Hazard would be much more of an effective player for us than Remy, he can also play on either wing or through the middle too. The signing of Hazard really would be a huge statement of intent

I'm pretty happy with the CB we have tbh. I really what us to give Caulker his opportunity to come through into our first 11.

Fernando Llorente would be the best option for us and I really think if we make the Champions League he would come to us.

Surely he'd be instead of Ade though, whereas Leandro/Remy would be young back-ups/challengers?

Not sure I'd pay nearly £30m for Llorente when we can get Ade for £8m. Similar wages and age.

Adebayor is exactly one year older, and their birthday is tomorrow funnily enough :)

Remy doesn't lack awareness and IMO is not Ade's back up,we have Saha and Defoe for that.
Why would we buy another all out striker, especially considering the huge amount of money the likes of Llorente or Leandro would cost, not to mention the huge risk it would be in buying someone like Leandro.
We need versatility, when we have small squads and injuries on top.

I disagree with this. For me Hazard would be much more of an effective player for us than Remy, he can also play on either wing or through the middle too. The signing of Hazard really would be a huge statement of intent

Hazard would cost a huge amount of money and we will be involved in a bidding war to get him and to be honest,he isn't any better than Remy and isn't desperately needed.
As his name suggests............Hazard is a huge risk
We could get both Remy and Verthongen for less than £30m with a nice chunk of change left.
That's the sensible thing to do.

Why not have both?

Agree but assuming we get champs lge and we lose both gallas and nelson then don't you think we can accommodate both? Esp with very also playing lb.

Because they are very similar so couldn't play together. Plus we only play with a lone striker so one of them would be sulking.
you don't always have to play with a lone striker, look at the Newcastle game we played two up top and Ade loved it.As for them being the same type of player your probably right but I would rather have two good CF than one.

A thread about a CB/LB/DM mutates into a discussion of strikers. Yes, it's SC!
