But to those judging Cole on his achievements (or lack of) at 'pool - did any of you actually expect him to fit in there? A team that plays a very specific style of football, far more comparable to the continent, and they draught in a player with no experience or actual identifiable role in that shape - of course he's going to look like a misfit

Yeah, he cocked up when he chose to go there, that was his own fault, but i'm sure his bank balance is more healthy for it. Now he has to decide if he wants to play proper football in a formation he is more comfortable with, which would mean moving to a team such as ourselves, Everton or perhaps Villa, where the football played is still very much within his scope, or stay at Liverpool and expand his game to help him fit in.

He has talent, he has technique and he has experience. If we find ourselves with room come summer, i think we'd be a bit bonkers to not consider him.

The guy was good at Chelsea for quite sometime, then he wasn't for quite sometime and they sold him without much fuss (kind of tells you something)

No matter if Liverpool didn't suit him to a tee....he hasn't done well because he's below par. Really dont think there is any need to over compensate with excuses for him. He hasn't been good enough for a long time now and we have a superior player in VDV anyway.

In short it would be bonkers to buy him...and that isn't even considering his over inflated/bloated wages in any case.

I don't think it's bonkers to consider a player like Cole. How many players do we have that can create things and turn games ?

I'd love us to sign someone better but if we can't then he's worth considering.

At the right price, right wages, and if he accepts he's not guaranteed to start, I'd be happy to bring a player like Joe Cole in. I'd pick him ahead of Lennon some weeks that's for sure. Is his worth to a team any less than Kranjcar's ?

We have all seen how important the squad has become, when players like Modric, VDV, Bale or Lennon get injured.

Joe Cole has won championships, trophies and played many CL games. He wouldn't be my first choice, but it's not bonkers to consider that he could offer our squad something.

I think it would be bonkers to NOT bring Joe Cole in if he doesn't break the bank.
Proven in the prem and good on the ball. He's not better than our best players but could easily become irreplaceable should our star players get injured or leave.

I don't think you can have too many good attacking players in a football team; players come and go and it's only common sense to buy them when they are cheap/available.

I never wanted him first time round and I still don't.

I think this would show Harry in a very bad light if he is narrow-minded enough to still want to perue this (IF he is persuing it of course).

Watched him last week when Liverpool drew with Braga...the guy is not fit enough anymore....it was painfully obvious.

The guy's career has been hampered with injuries dotted throughout, which is unfortunate but doesn't explain all the wasted promise. Talented guy but if you look at just how creative he's been over his entire career, especially the last 5 years or so, well, Lennon wins out for me and he still gets enough shit about not producing enough from some quarters.

He's produced as much (fewer goals but more assists) at the tender age of 23 than Cole has over his entire career. Maybe Azza needs to learn how to do some step-overs or something.

Joe Cole? Johnson?

Why don't we buy Lucas and Skrtel whilst we are at it if we are buying up their dross.

I'm not, and nobody else should, hold a transfer rumour against Harry.

However if we did sign Joe Cole I'd have serious concerns about our manager's ability in the transfer market. When we were linked in the Summer I was pro us signing Cole.

In the last few months however he's shown me how wrong I was being either unfit, or not very good and how anyone could have seen anything worth investing in is beyond me.

On top of that we have Pienaar and Kranjcar who are both better players in the 'versatile role' Lennon and Bale who are better wingers and VdV and Modric who are better creative players.

I've defended Harry in the past but this would be a relatively indefensible signing and I really hope it's just internet rumour tosh.
