There is no way in hell that our CB partnership for these last games should be anything other than Toby and Big Joe.
I didn't think he would but Mason's already pissed me off after just a few games in charge. He's just picking his mates because he hasn't got the bollocks to drop them.

On Joe Rodon
Joe was unfortunate in terms of timing. He was cup-tied for the cup final so the first game I felt it was probably right to have the group consistent for what it was going to be in the next game. He's trained well, done well. All the 21 outfield players have competed in training and it’s made it difficult to pick a team and a squad.
But I’ve been happy with everyone, I think the defence and team has done well. So it’s difficult. But when you play at a club like this, there’s always going to be disappointed players. The most important thing for me is he’s remained professional, he’s worked hard, he’s trained well and he’s been good around the club so that’s a massive tick from me.

We should just drop Dier and Sanchez before selling in the summer. It should be Rodon alongside Toby and Tanganga on the bench. They should be 3 going into next season along with 1 first choice being signed in the summer. That's regardless of who the next manager is. No manager can fix Dier or make Sanchez comfortable on the ball.

ACTUALLY..

Remember when Poch made Kaboul captain?

The message actually being 'If you're the shit, like you say you are, then prove it.’

I see this with Dier, Alli and a few others all over again. And we all know how long Kaboul lasted with Poch.

You know, that will be 4 (four) managers who'd decide to play those players, I mean 3 should be more than enough but 4!

Does it ever get to the point of realisation to wonder maybe we're the ones who are in the wrong... ?

Haha. In all seriousness, no. We watch every Spurs game, we know that the players we are talking about just aren't good enough.

Dier it's plain to see just isn't a good defender for example. To be fair, Poch hardly ever played him at CB, and I don't think rated him there. Jose came in obviously only knowing Dier from a distance, and very quickly worked out he was a donkey and dropped him but occasionally reinstated him, more than likely because he was trying to work out a combination and kept rotating plus was working within the cointraints of a squad.

I suppose one thing that is true, is we as fans tend to look at players as like figures in a subuteo game, just take him out and put him in, he's crap etc. As a manager working up close with these players and knowing them as human beings, it's a bit different. Maybe Dier trains really well, but in games he's just useless. Managers are much more likely to be patient, and also they are working with the realities of the squad. Some players will play one week just by virtue of other options not being fit enough etc

We both (you and me) know that the likes of Dier and Winks will never be good enough, one can only hope we manage to offload them, because the realities of modern football dictate that if they are in the squad, they will get games.

Blah blah Ryan playing his mates. That was always going to be a problem with someone his age having played with these guys recently.

Dele I think most people can understand as you could argue he’s not been given that many opportunities this year.

Dier however has been ass pretty much all season and still manages to play.

His buddy Dele trained well & was instantly reintroduced to the starting line-up. (I'm actually not displeased about that)

Meanwhile, Joe trains well & finds himself behind not just Dier in the pecking order.

Not just Sanchez in the pecking order

But also behind The fucking D Word in the pecking order.

3 of those have been an absolute fucking car crash all season, yet Mason thinks "the defence and team have played well"??

If I were being really cynical - I would not lay this at Mason's feet, but rather suggest the Levy wants to see those players play - either to put them in the shop window, or because Levy wants them to be the core of the next project.

It seems we had info before Jose was sacked, that Levy wanted to see more of these players, and he has gotten that from Mason.

If Rodon is our first choice next season we’re in trouble imo.

No offence to him, but he was a cheap punt from the Championship that may or may not turn out to be PL quality.

I’d say we need at least two first team CB signings in the summer if we’re to stand any chance of doing anything next season.
Rodon has hardly been given a chance with very few games so I don't understand your comment that we will be in trouble if he's our first choice. We'll be in trouble if it's Dier or Sanchez, even worse if it's both.

Rodon has been better in the few games he has played too.

If by the D word you mean Doherty then it's a daft comment as one is a right back and the other a centre back.

Two managers have had a look at him and generally decided not to trust him over the likes of Dier and Sanchez, who everyone seems to agree aren’t good enough.

He needs to be given a chance, but he’s basically an unknown quantity, hence us being in trouble if we go into next with said unknown quantity as our first choice CB.

Well, of course it's a daft comment. I made it! :finger:

However.....

1, The D Word is unbelievably shit & shouldn't be on the bench in the first place. Tanganga is the guy who's suffering there.

2, Even at bloody RB, Rodon would be better than The D Word, because The D Word is unbelievably shit.

3, If Aurier starts, there's no need for The D Word to be on the bench when Rodon could be on there instead. Because The D Word is unbelievably shit & if Aurier got a knock and had to come off. Either drop Bergwijn in to temporarily fill in. Or just play with 10 men, as that's still better than introducing The D Word, because he's unbelievably shit.

4, Based upon what has been shown throughout the season. Rodon is much more deserving of time on the pitch/bench and even in the fucking canteen, than The fucking D Word. Why? Well because The D Word is unbelievably shit.

5, The D Word is unbelievably shit!.

People over looking the fact that Rodon was cup tied for the Cup Final (Mason's first game). He chose Dier over Sanchez, which was probably the right decision, and then Dier played very well in that game. If Dier then trained well for the next game of course he was getting picked for the Sheffield Utd game.

Dropped completely. Be surprised if he plays again this season

Not really what he said though is it?

He said it was bad timing for Joe as he was cup-tied for the final and he (Mason) thought it was better for the next game to keep continuity, and that Joe had trained well, he's happy with him and he's been nothing but professional.

Dier did well (nothing special) in the final , Rodon did well before that. Rodon shouldn't really have been dropped just because he was cup tied. The Saints game followed by the final made complete sense but Dier has been poor in too many games this season. As soon as the final was over Rodon should have been back in because he earned it prior to the final (not exactly his fault he was cup tied).

Dier and Sanchez are proven failures. They are not good enough.

Rodon on the other hand has shown all the signs of having the natural defensive instincts you need to be a top player and has performed very well for someone with such little PL experience.

He may make mistakes but at least with Rodon you feel he may actually learn from them, where as the other 2 have proven they will never learn and improve.

Utter madness that we aren’t playing him.
