lets sum this up.... ITK all saying he's getting sacked if it looks like we cant get top 4. One more bad result and we wont be. So lets get him gone now and bring in a manager who will free the players from their shackles. I would love to see what bielsa could achieve with a squad like ours. If he can get leeds to be as attractive as they are with their squad imagine what he could do with kane, Ndombele and Son.

And switching to wing-backs just as the only left-sided player capable of playing that role is injured?!

And he's fallen out with every right back so we have Davies at left wing back and Sissoko at right wing back. The new Trent and Robertson right there. You cant make it up.

I find this a bit weird with dele that the narrative is that he's been ostracised because he was lazy. Careless in possession yes, but I never got the feeling watching him that he wasn't trying. No more than anyone else, anyway.
Based purely on the All Or Nothing scenes when he's specifically called out as being a lazy trainer, and the match briefings where Dele was shown to be the guy who wasn't working for the team.

Who is there though? We missed the boat on Tuchel. Allegri and Benitez are also all out defence. Can't think of anyone with getting who's available mid season.

A lot was made certainly on the TV channel that I watched it on that we struggled without Kane.
But he gets this injury every year and we didn't do too bad two seasons ago getting through two rounds to reach the CL final.
Yesterday and against Liverpool was a cluster fuck of epic proportions, something more has gone on here as the team doesn't look right.
We offered nothing after the final third yesterday but everytime they went forward it looked like a goal was certainty.
Nobody including the manager seemed to know what the plan if any was or worse what to do about it.
Jose won't be sacked but I can't see us finishing in the top four or six and certainly now the league cup final is disaster waiting to happen.
This club is consistent in taking one step forward but three back every time no wonder other clubs fan's are always laughing at us.

Even though the announcement of Poch's sacking was a shock, the weeks leading up to it there was a few articles flying around about discontent (I think Matt Law had one?). If Jose is going, I expect to see these when the players/agents have had enough...

This whole thing about Dele not working in training I find strange too. Given how Pochettino was so focused on how much effort players put in during his notoriously hard training. And if you didn't work hard you didn't play. And Dele was a Poch favourite despite apparently being perpetually lazy in training? Something doesn't compute.

The strategy seems to be to win something in the hope that it gives the team 'belief.'
Winning the League cup has rarely had a positive effect on a team like us. I can think of us in 2008 going on a terrible run under Ramos ending in his sack, Birmingham relegated, Swansea went shit after it as well under laudrup. Then with the Fa Cup Wigan relegated and Portsmouth relegated 2 seasons after. A league Cup isn't going to be the silver bullet we want.

Even in the documentary, when Sacramento says "They say Sissoko is a very big influence in the dressing room" Jose goes "Fucking hell"

Almost.

As I posted in the AON thread at the time:

And 9 points out of the previous 24 with him in the team makes that argument pretty irrelevant.

Yea, it's a bit odd. Perhaps it was injuries that meant he took it easier in training? He'd had a few before José came in, I think. Or perhaps he got too big for his boots and felt he didn't have to work as hard? Who knows. Either way, if he's still here after today then you'd hope there'd be a compromise, a clearing of the air and we can try to get him back in the team.

I think Mourinho called him out on it in the Amazon doc. Poch is infatuated with Dele and I think there was a blind spot where he was concerned. If Mourinho is gonna stay he's gonna have to get something out of him. I hope they have a crisis meeting after that and air all the problems and make it right. The ideal scenario is Mourinho learns from the last two and takes action. I think the knowledge, mind games, stuff around mentality on and off the pitch is all what we need. We just need better tactics on it.

It'll be one of his greatest managerial feats if he manages to turn this around anyway, it's gotten that bad that quick.

Mourinho doesn't tend to back down so I can't see any air being cleared.

And this is the problem when a manager cuts a player loose. It was fine when we were doing well, there was very little argument that Dele should be in the side but now the chips are down the obvious question is 'could he do any worse?'.

We don't know what his attitude has been like in training but to not even make the bench at times does seem like he really is out of favour.

Personally I don't think Mourinho's style of football particularly suits him but as I alluded to above, he must be sitting there thinking 'I could do better than what I'm watching'. Ok he's 'injured' at the mo but should he not leave today, I would like him to be re-integrated.
Trying Sissoko and Davies as wing-backs is much more radical than trying to get the best out of Dele.....
