You know, I'm starting to think he actually feels bad about how he acted when he was United manager and is genuinely trying to make amends.

Also, Gamma Ray is great stuff! ?

the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was making the world believe he doesn’t exist

This whole thing feels very surreal.

He's being nice. He's not riling up journalists. He's made us a potent attacking threat whilst apparently leaving our defence to just jizz about as they want.

Have we actually appointed Mourinho?

I reckon he’ll get the defence sorted, it he doesn’t manage to mould the current players then reckon he’ll be getting defenders in (and hopefully a defensive midfielder).

Interesting re: left back if he does truly mean to give Cirkin a shot or whether we’ll get another in if Davies out for a while.

Let's see what he's like in a couple of years.

I figure Verts might get a bit moody if he has to play LB all the time.

So reassuring to hear Jose actually talk after the game about our slow starts in the two home games and how he wants to change that. It’s been a habit we’ve learned under Poch but we never once heard Poch talk about it after the games. He would just ignore it and say we played well and dominated the game.

I feel much happier having a manager who just seems to tell it how it is.

And knows how it is!

Our best season under Poch in terms of results and entertainment was when we played 5-3-2 with Alli & Kane up front. Mourinho has realised this (or probably knew from before) almost instantly and corrected the fundamental flaws in Poch's tactics of not playing with a defensive midfielder and playing Alli up front alongside Kane.

Also playing Verts/Davies as a left back who moves into a left centre back in a back three when attacking leaves us far less exposed on the flanks on an opposition counter and it forces Son to stay wider, which leaves us nowhere near as congested in the middle as before. This frees up space for Kane and Alli to exploit.

Mourinho's tactics cater to the strengths of the players and to that I say hallelujah! It's been too long since we've seen that. The more I see of Mourinho as Spurs manager the more I realise how much Poch had been holding us back. I long suspected Poch luckily stumbled on certain tactical winning formulas when he was our manager. Now I am damn certain of it.

Burnley will be an acid test for this Mourinho side. They won't come out at us like Bournemouth and they'll make sure we can't counter them. The bus will be well and truly parked and we'll have to come out and play in a different way.

Maybe it's just me, but from this angle he looks like the test-tube son of Dele and Dier!
