Here's a radical idea - why don't we all accept that Levy is highly unlikely to sack Jose and he is likely to see out a couple of seasons (I'm not saying more) so there's not a lot of point in people waiting for every defeat to say "told you so".

Dude theres nothing wrong for having an opinion, it's the inflating of that opinion as 'right' that I have always found funny and self-indulgent on these boards.

I said it was a pet peeve, I dont see how thats inflating an opinion beyond anything more than an opinion but there we go.

The main issue is the squad is stale, lacking quality in key positions, with a significant number of players bang out of form or injured. I think when Mourinho came in he did the right thing, simplified things and played to our strengths. The quick away wins and the goal / assist return from Son, Dele, Kane and Moura was fantastic (despite none of them returning to top form). However, the same midfield and defence problems persisted and I think he now knows what a massive job he has on his hands. Getting a top class CB, DCM, and new FBs, and integrating Lo Celso and Ndombele fully (whilst offloading Rose, Eriksen, etc.) is not a 7 week job. It’s a 7 month one. At least. I don’t think he can be judged until next season when it’s really his team. Levy needs to spend £150m in January to get us a realistic shot at top 4, and I can’t see that happening personally. If we signed KK at CB in this window it’s a massive step in the right direction. With an equivalent quality signing in DCM I’d be very confident.

I never dug out his tactics or individual decisions, as a fan on the internet I have no authority to do so.
I said he'd lost the dressing room and his time was up...which was clear to everyone.

This is it in a nutshell. There’s no “right” in this situation as no one has any idea how it would have played out in the parallel universe of Poch staying. We may have got back to top 4, we may have got relegated, we may have finished mid table. I never switched to Poch out in the poll but by the end I could completely understand why Levy did what he did

What’s clear under Jose, I think, is we won’t get relegated. Which I think is a safer hand than we had. And more of the players are now onboard, at least provisionally. And I don’t believe the football is any worse.

What the issue now for me is one of a lack of an overarching plan. Previously there was an element of moral high ground at Spurs, you could take the rough with the smooth as it felt like some kind of crusade for how to do things right, however egotistical, naive or inaccurate. Poch represented that.

Jose, for many, I believe is a final severance of a greater problem, the disillusionment with football in general. Poch was right: the first stage or project or whatever is over, there’s a need for a new one. What that actually is remains unclear other than maintain the status quo while increasing Brand Tottenham globally in an increasingly difficult climate.

Ultimately there’s only so much love your average football watcher can bestow on buildings and balance sheets.

This one paragraph from your post really hits home. I don’t really disagree with it, it’s just depressing and makes me shake my head that this is what it’s come to after being where we were.

Right but its an internet forum, for discussion and debate, we have player thread after player thread for discussing who we like and dont. To call it self indulgent is laughable but I apologise for having an opinion, looking back I do feel arrogant that I feel Dele should come off now and then if he isn't at it.

Should have more confidence in your views and no need to be a pussy and apologise over every little thing!

One saving grace with Mourinho for me is his honestly and coherence in most of his pressers. Last games presser seem to be a bit much on the giving responsibility to other factors like VAR and the Harry injury when we played like dollop.
Yesterday I really enjoyed the pregame one for today. As long as he tells it like it is we have a chance to learn and move on

His press conferences are great but surely he's not at the saving grace point yet. He was handed a busted flush to begin with, infact he did a good job of reminding people what time can do for a manager at a club with the progression under Klopp as that took time. I'm not even counting this season as his first personally, think managers need a full pre-season to be judged, only good thing about coming in mid-season is you get to give players a fair assessment. I think we all need to get used to the notion that there wasn't going to be a quick fix salvation and that we are going to have to likely suffer another transitional phase.

I never used to bother watching press conferences prior to Jose being manager but I am enjoying watching them.

Im good with that. Also I meant the saving grace part was not saving him etc but more about my own view of where its at with him right now.. The quality of our game has to be better, even now, than we have seen. That's not the bigger picture but there is absolutely no flow to our game apart from the one or two where we hit the long ball and it worked.
Ndombele did get injured but why he had him as basically the DM when he can at least have add to the flow by being more prevalent in the middle of the park closer to the AMs I don't understand. That ship has sailed now NDombele is injured, but that's one example.
I do generally like the honestly of his pressers though. That's a good starting point. We do need to build and for me he has time. I also think that its reasonable to see increments of growth, not just time. We need to see growth every game. One is how our players approach a game. There is no reason for them to not have energy. Mourinho has to so better with that. Also we need to get a bit tighter in defence even if we use one more defender.

Yeah I must admit I'm not enjoying the Ndombele situation and wish that was working out far better. Also have concerns that Foyth has blown his shot.

I think we need to come to terms with this season being a write off and build for next season and beyond.

People talking about not spending big money on a centre half because it means we won’t get a right back and centre midfield at the same time, they need to think about buying the right player, the number 1 choice, for each position. If that takes two/three windows then so be it. I’d much rather buy one quality operator in each position over such a period than a handful of decent players this month.

I’m hearing names like Ake...he’s not a step up from what we have. Buying for the sake of buying is partly to blame for the situation we are in.

I don’t. I wasn’t thinking of the CL final, more the team we had in the last season at WHL.

Brilliant post. The only thing is the style of football is a little worrying but agree with all of your post.

Train wrecking waiting to happen, continuing to pick deadwoods in Vertoghen, Aurier, Eriksen and Winks while ostrasizing emerging talents like Foryth, Sanchez, Lo celso.

Club going to be set back 5 to 10 years as the current crop has gone stale and the emerging talent couldnt wait to f*** off
