The disrespect for Lloris is wild. I’m not even going to engage with it.
It’s not disrespect - the numbers say he’s making more errors than any other keeper in the league. The decline has been pretty clear for years.

Incidentally saw this today. Benfica’s keeper posting Allison-esque numbers. I wonder if our scouts have even heard of him.

Don’t even, the second he makes a mistake the press will be full of Greek tragedy puns. Don’t need to be an oracle to see that.

If you are going to put a time of going to spurs then I have been attending spurs games for 69 years that does not give me better knowledge of what the " spurs way " is it just means I have seen more teams players and managers having the nous of deciding what is the" spurs way "
is another matter and I still say "the spurs way " is a myth as is the " West Ham way " or the " arsenal way " they are all myths .
The time in a clubs history will tell you that any club that has had gained a name of playing in such and such "a way "
It will coincide with having a great manager and having the best players at such times you play " the spurs way " when you have a weak manager and a poor team the " spurs way " goes out the window as you have not got the best equipment to play the best football .

I've been going to Spurs for 60 years and never seen a 'Spurs way' - never seen a unicorn either, they're both mythical. I've seen some Spurs teams play exciting, attacking football. I really enjoyed, for example, the way Nicholson, Redknapp and Burkinshaw set up their teams. I've seen a lot of terrible stuff as well in my time.

I feel Mourinho is the right man to deal with the unusual circumstances of a return after a long break and no fans. Can see team with inexperienced managers struggling a bit.

We were way too passive 2nd half. We needed to replace Kane after 70 mins. Cannot see us overhauling Man U who will win most of their games.

Tired of watching us not risk winning games, so frustrating and it comes from him....

And does Jorge Mendes have nudes of Jose wife, why is he using Gedson instead of Ndombele or Sessegnon??

It’s like watching a team with its hands tied together. Same shit, unfortunately the break has ruined any chance of a managerial change it feels :(

Totally agree. Bergwijn and Lamela looked like the only two who could carry the ball. Poor movement and inability to keep the ball kept putting our defence under constant pressure. This type of football deserves to be played in an empty stadium.

Pre-Lockdown I didn't believe Jose would let us play football against "big" teams and I see nothing has changed. Bergwijns goal was not a result of good football. We only started looking like playing football when ManU had to chase the game. There is no brave new Mourinho tactics.

JM needs to let our players play football. They are not a sit back and counteract team. We like having the ball.

We definitely won't get European football. I can see a 3 year rebuilding plan which will keep us behind Liverpool and man city, and Chelsea and man United who already started rebuilding.

This exactly. Jose has destroyed our souls in 6 months when it usually takes him at least a year or two.

we need a total reset. This is only going to get worse unless by some Miracle he quits.

Pisses me off how we score and instead of looking for a second or third we sit back and let teams back into the game. They score then we start playing again

I can't believe there have been so many replies to this thread without anyone mentioning arguably the most important position of all that needs to be strengthened this summer.

Goalkeeper.

I don't disagree that our full-backs are weak, our centre-backs seemingly on the decline, that we haven't got a "traditional" defensive midfielder nor traditional "striker" to back up Kane.

However, even though he used to be world class, Lloris has been on a major decline for the past three years. In 17/18 he was inconsistent. In 18/19 he was a liability. And this season, when fit, he has been even worse still.

You can come up with the best tactical game plan, dominate the play, get in the heads of the opposition - but if your goalkeeper makes a mistake then that can all go to shit in an instant. And Lloris has made far too many mistakes that have destroyed game plans and shifted the dynamic of the games, particularly big games, away from us over the last couple of years. Let's take Leipzig away as a prime example - we were up against an inexperienced side that hadn't really played in two-legged European knockout ties before, if we got at them and got an away goal we could have turned the tie around - we then started the game really well and it looked like Mourinho had a plan, but two absolute howlers from Lloris and suddenly we're 2-0 down after 20 minutes, our heads drop, they are signing and dancing and we have to open up to their pace on the counter attack. Yes he played well in the first leg, but games like that are extremely rare these days, games like the away leg are not.

More mistakes listed here:

Three years is not a blip. It's not a poor run of form - it's a decline in ability. I had hoped that after his injury layoff he'd have had some time to get his head in place and come back stronger, but he came back even worse. A real shame, but we have to eventually say enough is enough - the mistakes are too frequent and too costly.

It’s hard to watch BUT we didn’t have any attacking players on the bench again today. We need dele and Lucas back and to sign another attacking player and then we will see the real Jose team

Sessegnon on the wing would’ve been much better than Gedson. And we had Ndombele on the bench who could create chances

you don’t always need to have a attacking player to make changes in attack
