I kind of get the feeling in his pre match conference that he is having an "indirect' dig at Ndombele when he mentions the sub bench and Steven's attitude and professionalism. Let's hope Ndombele be the player that he is capable at being in Tottenham Hotspur

Mourinho defending critisism of Kane from Paul The **** Merson

tbh I agree with Mourinho. Kane hasn't played for over 6 months and managed 90 mins. Maybe Mourinho should've subbed him, but the alternatives imo were not the best for such a game.

Didn't hear that mate, thanks for pointing it out. I just had that feeling that he is indirect saying to his midfielder particularly Tanguy, to increase your work rate and be professional like stevie. My bad.

Not a problem either way - I’m sure that 99.9% of fans would agree and do want to see Ndombele show what he’s capable of.

Conversely going to be like a blood bath in here if we don't win.... Particularly if we lose.
Those who don’t want Mourinho to succeed will never leave off anyway. They might go quiet if we have a good run but one bad spell and they’ll be back.

True! Its the whole problem with appointing Jose.. He completely polarises fans opinions.

The chairman does, I'm sure, consider fans opinions but ultimately his job isn't to curry favour with the fans but to make the decisions that he feels are in the best interests of the club. Now he may not always get it right - he doesn't but apart from the Hoddle appointment, I can't think of any decision that was taken with a view to getting fans onside.

Mourinho has split every fanbase at the club's he's worked at, remember Man Utd fans on Redcafe arguing about the same things.

I think you might be stretching a bit there dude. He was just praising the player, saying he's better than he expected, because he wanted to bring another player in (assumably a striker) and he's really happy with his contribution.

Jose has always done this tbf. His relationship with the media, since the day he arrived all those years ago, was designed to take the focus off his players.

The whole point of the Merson argument is to put the focus on Kane but its about backing his man and trying to engendered strong bond between himself and Kane that he will back him publicly and take him to where he wants to be.

Its has nothing to do with Paul Merson really, its José seizing upon something he believes can help him get the most out of Kane.

Liverpool have taken 5 years under Klopp to be contenders/winners.
Pep inherited a squad that was already winning titles and had a ropey 1st season, even with the massive financial backing.

Why?

Because it takes time to implement your philosophy, get the players playing the way you want, bring in the players to plug the gaps you see that stop you from getting to the top.

And yet many of you expect Mourinho to do this in half a season when he inherited a squad low on energy and confidence, that has had the majority of its key players sidelined for months with injury!

Absolutely ridiculous! So many of you need to give yourselves a swift uppercut and a kick in the balls. Though judging from the childish petulance I'd hazard a guess that a few of you are still waiting for them to drop!

I know there are plenty on here who like to dismiss the pots in favour of the process which I can understand to a certain extent but the reality is that both matter and it's high time we got this monkey off of our back whilst we still have an opportunity to do so. We need to create some history.

Still, Levy is doing a remarkable job at channeling fan anger to the coaches and away from his role in the situation. Coaches most of the time can't perform miracles and to win you need top players, it's as simple as that.

That game we played pretty much the same way as we have been playing all along. When in possession Davies tucked in to make a back 3 and Aurier bombed on as a RW to make a front 5 (alongside Son, Dele, Kane and Moura). The main difference was we were less passive in the middle third, but as that game wore on, and JM gave instructions / made subs, we fell back and were hanging on a little to win 3-2 after being 3-0 up inside the first hour.

Interestingly Ancellotti setup his Everton team at home to Liverpool with the same tactical plan as JM did with us versus MU. It seems two managers who have both won the Champions League and various League titles with different teams in different countries know how weigh up the pros and cons of both their team and the opposition and come to a conclusion of how to set their team up that differs from many on here! I know who I’d have more confidence in

The difference being that Ancelotti actually succeeded. He kept the clean sheet against the best team in the world right now. When Jose played Liverpool at home, he lost. And his attempts at defensively-sound football have led to our attack being blunted, while we've still nearly always failed to keep a clean sheet and conceded far too many goals.

Hilarious comparison seeing as Liverpool were bang in form and at full strength when we played them.

Besides the comparison was the Man Utd game on Monday not the Liverpool game in January.
