It's depressing football because we've got bang average players that are low in confidence. Nice to see some clean sheets. It will be better next season.
This. For those criticising us they need to understand we have bang average players and Jose is just trying to make us more solid to get us more points until the end of the season and IF we can sign some better players in certain areas then we can be more effective all round and going forwards next season.

When he was appointed I listed 5 objections clearly here (Nov 13):

So far we have a mixed record but he certainly looks to be continuing his average record since Inter, he has definitely served up turgid football, and he has failed to bring along those players with world class potential (Ndombele and to a lesser extent Sessegnon and Foyth).

The worse thing about how this looks likely to unfold is that it was all so painfully predictable. Because I did. He still deserves more time but it is not looking great...

Bergwijn and Skipp would be fine replacements.
Bergweign played the last game and I think defensively Lucas is a better player, offensively Bergweign is better so he will start vs Bournemouth where we will need him more. Lucas did well defensively today and was important as part of the team in the win. Skipp is no where near Sissoko right now, sure Sissoko isn’t good enough for where we need to be but he’s the best we’ve got right now, Unfortunately it looks like our £65m record signing CM is a dud or more so just not a good fit for us so for now Sissoko and winks is the best we have.

The results aren't great? Do you mean the footballing results aren't great or the final outcome? You play to win the game or you play to see how many plaudits you're give on a game by game basis? With a squad that seems to be doing to one manager that they did to the last, I'd say we're screwed, but it's not all Mourinho's fault.

Jose's point per game are nothing special. He's getting about 1.55 points per game, Poch was around 1.3 when sacked. I don't believe his results couldn't be achieved by a manager on a far lower wage, giving more money to be invested in the squad.

I accept the squad is horribly unbalanced but I don't think Jose is the right man to make the transfers need. Where is his track record of nurturing young talent? We aren't going to be spending mega money and buying a lot of 30+ year olds for stability or experience just means we will be back to square one in a season or two.

If you are being nice about Mourinho he is a square peg in a round hole.

The same bang average players that made the UCL final last season ?
Pretty much barring one or two who are no longer in the team. Same complaints being levelled at the same players about the same issues.

Give him some time, the squads mentality was done after the final loss and poch’s 5yr project coming to an end. We’ve had tons of injuries and were in relegation form before he came in.

sure the football isn’t good but results have Improved and saying he’s not getting a tune out of ndombele sess and Foyth is a strange point, ndomble clearly has fitness and attitude issues, neither are Jose’s fault, sess is a kid and is not good enough to play ahead of Davies as LB or ahead of son at LW, Foyth got some chances and was poor, Jose can’t trust him so he’s brought on tanganga and moved dier back their.

Not only that, but we were a bit crap that whole CL campaign. Llorente and Lucas had some purple patches that got us there out of nothing. Incredible really. I can't really think of any one game we were decent in really, save for a few 10-15min spells. I think it's the least convincing I ever saw us play in our few campaigns in the CL, and I still have no idea how we bodged our way to a final.

Mourinho's wage is affecting what we can spend?

It is unbalanced. We'll have to spend some money on it some how and sell some players. I don't think anyone ever thought we would spend megabucks considering who is in charge of the purse strings.

Rant on though, he's here unless he decides to walk.

Toby and Jan are still here, and we only had 1 Rose, lol

the question remains, its the same squad and we are fully fit which we were not back then so if anything we are slightly better off team list wise

There's a limited amount of money, if $15m a season is going to Mourinho it can't go to somewhere more productive.

There will be a limited transfer kitty, so why trust it to a manager who A) has no history of wise transfer spending B) doesn't hang around at club for long?

He's here till he gets paid off once the situation become intolerable.

Well that was about as uninspiring a win as it gets.

I think the Lloris interview hints at how bad things are in our changing room.

Confidence is relegation levels of bad, I'd say comfortably the worst in the league (Norwich seem to be blissfully naive). Talk of 'team investment' is pretty scary. Should be a minimum expectation at professional level. Suggests a lot have checked out mentally already.

Jose has had to drop to absolute basics on mentality. He's having them call each other out as well as him doing it himself. Probably something we've always lacked tbh. The potential investment from the team is probably the high point of the evening (not a high bar).

The football needs to improve massively though and I think we're all having growing concerns over that.

Hopefully we can use this as a springboard to a better performance at Bournemouth.

Poch said a similar thing at the back end of last season. There was talk of a 'new chapter' and needing to rebuild again - didn't he say that it was similar to when he first arrived at the club, or am I just making that up? Either way, we've had two managers say pretty much the exact same thing about this club in the past year - we should probably listen to them.
All Danny Roses fault.
