We have to dump the double pivot and the 4231. We’re too easy to play through, we don’t have two midfielders that can defend and get on the ball, and we don’t really have a No 10.

We’ve got to move to a 433 and get three players in central midfield - ideally Hojbjerg flanked by Ndombele to the left, Lo Celso to the right. Then play three up top and use Dele as the rotation to Son on the left where he did so well when we played 3-4-3 in 2017.

This shape would make us so much more solid and give us a base to play from.
I couldn’t agree more

I'd likely warm to him quickly if we hired him, tbf. And he'd be an excellent choice to succeed Mourinho. Can't see Mourinho getting sacked or Rodgers jumping ship anytime soon, though.
No me neither sadly ? maybe Ledley is given caretaker role until end of season and then go for him in the summer ?‍♂️

Well I should say, it was the first performance where I actually questioned why I put so much emotion into supporting them.

I'll narrow it down to Aug 19 to 1st October 19 in that case.

Or ABV's final months. They were, I'm sure for a lot of people, several echelons worse than losing one game to Everton.

I understand his point about Doherty pratically coming from holiday, signing and going off to Internationals.

Why did he start him ahead of Aurier then?

Guys, have a good rest, have a good sleep. Although it's September, we are not 8 games in. The good news is, we will have alot more matches to claim our points. The bad news is, we will have alot more matches as poor as this.

I suggest some of you lot skip watching the Amazon documentary comes midnight to prevent any angst further.

We're about to play something daft like a game every 2 or 3 days, so I guess it's always going to be "why that guy over that guy" for most of these games. There's no real winner.

If he played Aurier instead, people would moan about that. Doherty was close to getting a goal, so one of those that could have been genius as much as it was foolish.

The AVB/Sherwood season was the lowest point for me - just a lost season with nothing to hope for or look forward to. At least the Ramos year had the upsurge under Redknapp and the genuine thread of relegation to give it an edge. Last season was bad but again with Jose there's always the hope that he'll pull it together.

Long way from the low point yet, although a first match loss at home after getting all hyped up is like thinking you're about to get laid all week and then receiving a kick in the bollocks instead. About as dispiriting as it gets in football.

He's entitled to complain - we have a stupid fixture congestion that will be almost impossible to maintain good form and fitness through.

I don't see how you're relating the two as if they are mutually exclusive. He has to play unfit players because he has to juggle the best squad for the best situation.

This season certainly feels like a defining one. Jose was brought in in my mind to get the remaining life out of the title challenging team and core of Poch's best years. It has become apparent that more of a rebuild was needed than perhaps Levy thought when he first appointed Jose. We've tried to continue to reshape the squad however if we have another average league season and fail to win silverware I think we can all agree it is very likely at least one of Kane and Son go. Kane and Son are elite tier and are by far our best players and them going will give rise to the need for further rebuild and squad building. If Jose does not convince this season, it would be foolish for him to be allowed to lead this evolution. If Kane and Son go and we do not spend the money they leave behind properly there is nothing from stopping us dropping outside the top 6 for a long time. We have a great squad but they are the two that make it great. Therefore if Jose does not impress this year he should go, as the importance of next summer will be incredible and decisions should be made as part of a direction (manager) that we are 100% confident in.

I was half expecting a performance like that, because we've not added any extra quality to the sqaud since last season. Doherty is decent, but not world class. Hojbjerg demonstrated why he only cost £15m. I was gob smacked by just how slow he is, so this doesn't fill me with a great deal of optimism. Alli is Alli, Alderwiereld is on the decline. Moura has the ball control of a scabby rapist and Davies is bang average.. I could go on and on, Winks

My issue with the whole thing boils down to the fact I cannot tell how he wants us to play. What is the philosophy? It's so disjointed. I honestly think since he's come in there have been a handful of half decent periods of games but i'd struggle to single out many games we were on it for the full 90. I seriously doubt his ability to improve any of our players and some of them need it. Tactics seem to be negative, its like a carbon copy of his time at united where he wants to play a defensive style when your best players are attackers.

Winks - needs to be far more adventurous in his play and take risks. He has the ability to dictate tempo but doesn't just shunts it back or sideways.
Dier - Not good enough, never has been
Davies - Ditto, always been a solid back up to Rose, going backwards
Toby - in decline

I didn't want him in charge when he got the job but reserved judgement until I had a good look. Truth is I don't enjoy watching u at the minute. I don't mind us getting beat but i hate seeing us play badly.

Same old Jose

Blaming the free kick being taken 5 ft further forward every team does this ???!!

Then blaming the condition of the players and their fitness?

You selected the team my friend

If you were that concerned why didn’t you play

Aurier > Doherty
Lamela
White?

There’s no excuses for shit tactics that are easy to work out! Literally teams can walk through us! Our team look scared of the ball! Also overcoached with all the freedom removed!

It’s also clear to see our medical and sports science staff are awful.

For me personally I just can’t see it working with Jose and atm he is lucky there is no fans in the stadium imagine paying to watch that?

Next in for me has to be

Rodgers
Nagelsman
Nuno
Poch
Tuchel

Tuchel may well be available soon they’ve lost both league games this season and it looks like they had 3 players sent off tonight ?
