As much as I like Kounde and think he'd be a superb signing, I'm not desperate for this to happen.

I personally think Lacroix and one of Andersen, Milenkovic etc would be perfect and arguably cheaper.

We need 2 CBs. Toby is gonna leave, Sanchez too most likely. Rodon is class and will play more and Dier will probably stick around too but adding 2 new CBs will do the job.

That's been Levy's MO from the moment ENIC bought Spurs. I remember when we supposedly tried to sign Rivaldo, who turned us down but then Levy's makes public a letter written by him explaining why he turned us down. Kounde was never going to join us, and why would he especially when the likes of Chelsea and The Mancs have also been linked, if I was him and had the choice between those 2 teams and Spurs, I wouldn't choose Spurs. We are never going to win the big trophies while ENIC owns this club it's that simple.

I don't get the paradox. Levy doesn't care what the fans think, so we keep hearing, but apparently does enough to concoct scripted scenarios - the likes of which don't actually do our reputation any good - just to satisfy bitter people on the internet?

Not buying it.

What are you angry about? That we're trying for players above our weight, or that they're not willing to come. It's not like we're offering them 50p a week and that's why they're rejecting us.

By all accounts, players like Bale (last season), VDV, Davids, Adebayor, Eriksen, NDombele (etc etc) were all 'too good for us' and yet they came

Exactly my thoughts. Rodon, Tanganga, Davies (in a back 3) plus Tomiyasu and any 2 from Lacroix/Andersen/Milenkovic I’d be fine.

With Paratici apparently leaking everything to the press, some of you are going to have a very, very long summer. There's no point in overreacting to every little snippet.

Its going to be like the manager hunt all over again, we’ll be relieved when the window closes ?

Definitely. Before the summer, people were gagging for news - Paratici came in and there was too much exposure.

Was just about to write something similar. I need to get off Twitter for real this Summer. I love being linked to different names, I think it's fun and love to see the thinking behind different moves and how they'd fit in the team.

What gets old is seeing the same old responses after such a predictable news cycle. I know we all know but working in digital marketing as a full time job, these journalists have literally have most readers where they want them, coming back for more. Already this morning I've seen blame thrown at Levy, Paratici, saying we're a small, finished club, etc ??

We have no idea what's happening behind the scenes, so as always I'll wait until the end of the window to judge!

This probably won't happen because Kounde would be unfortunate not to attract better offers. He will want CL so was never going to opt for us at the start of the window - we would clearly be a last resort type of move for him. However we have been told that Paratici's approach is to work on numerous options at the same time, also with the intention to reject most players he has been stringing along.

What I find encouraging is that although this is one of the most attractive CB talents in Europe whom we all thought would really be out of our reach, this is a decent swap proposal for both clubs and a sign that Paratici could well be the guy to get things done this summer.

Haven't there already been reports he said no, citing a desire for CL football?

Why would we agree a fee if he has no intention of joining. It’s just amateur and terrible PR ffs.
As ITK has suggested, I very much doubt we’d officially bid without doing due diligence to see if he would be happy to join. I assume with transfers being so complicated we would know full well of a players desire to join and salary expectations prior to entering lengthy negotiations, especially one that complex such as a player trade included.

The reason these players don't want come to is simple, Spurs don't win things, which is more than likely the reason our best player wants to fuck off and play for Man City, a team that does win things, a fancy stadium and flash training ground means fuck all to me, I want titles and that simply ain't gonna happen with ENIC running the this shit show.

I bet you they want money more than titles.

It's not likely but not impossible. This reminds me of the Reguilon saga from last summer. He held out for a bigger move, probably would have gone to Utd had they agreed terms with Real Madrid. Similar quality player to Kounde with the potential to become a top or world class player. None of us thought we stood much chance but then we were the only club to agree the buy back terms. In this case we have Sanchez to offer and Sevilla seem to be keen on him.

As long as we get another centre back along with Tomiyasu this one can run longer.

Could you please explain to me how (if ENIC sold up) you see the new owners managing to change things and attract the type of players we need to challenge for major honours ??

Surely our approach to any prospective player now has be that these are exciting times to be joining the club. New manager, new DOF, a squad rebuild being undertaken, fantastic stadium and training facilities, money coming in from new sponsors and naming rights deals. This is a chance for them to be a part of the massive changes going on at the club and the success that should follow.

If Spurs had new owners tonight what other temptations could they offer potential signings ?. Regardless of who owns the club these are the positives we have to 'sell' in order to 'buy'. We cannot look to the recent past and point to trophies and titles. We have to look to the future and make it as bright and promising a prospect as we possible can.
