Tottenham prepare Kim Min-jae transfer bid in effort to beat Chelsea to 'The Monster'
Exclusive: Spurs were first interested in South Korea centre-back Kim Min-jae in the close season and may now lodge a bid

Spurs are weighing up a bid this month for highly-rated South Korea centre-back Kim Min-jae.

Tottenham are ready to step up their interest amid growing concerns of competition from London rivals Chelsea.

The 6ft 3in Beijing Guoan centre-back,24, is nicknamed 'the monster' and is a rising star in Asia.

Spurs were first interested in Heung-min Son's international team-mate in the close season after Jan Vertonghen left.

Now they are plotting a fresh move as Chelsea could be about to enter the race.

Very quick
Thanks. He's a lefty too right? I understand he's strong and good technically.

I was under the assumption Rodon was brought in as the technical and aerially good defender and Jose still wanted a quicker defender to allow us play further forward and I thought Rodon was the alternative option to Min-Jae

From memory I think he is both footed. Stand to be corrected

If this has legs, does that mean we're losing one of our current lot?

His contract expires December this year. Can see this being a summer signing

For being 6’3” he sure isn’t very dominant in the air. 1.4 aerial duels won per game in the Chinese Super League is nothing to marvel at.

I don’t watch much CSL but it’s hard to imagine it’s more physical than the EPL.

% of aerial wins would probably tell more, I don't watch chinese football, but it wouldn't surprise me if the ball is rarely in the air.

Sorry meant to add that – 43% aerials won.

Not impressive, but I will admit I haven't seen much of him and stats obviously don't tell the whole story.

Interesting nonetheless.

Still dont get this link at all.

This guy has zero experience on a level close to PL, we have Rodon and Tanganga to slowly include in the team. I think if we buy new CB it should be a guy who can lead the line and calm everyone down.

I saw the link somewhere else on Twitter yesterday. Someone is stirring the pot.

It only makes sense for one of these reasons:

1) he is seen as a player of huge potential
2) commercial purposes

If neither are true then it's a pointless signing.

Prob a 1+2 in that he is seen as a player of huge potential commercial purposes
