I just searched "Hamlet Olivier" and apparently the Director's name of the 1948 film was Laurence Olivier. Love this Google machine!

The only time Piatek has really performed was for 6 months alongside another striker at Genoa and the start at Milan. He scored 6 in his first 7 for Milan and has since been pretty much atrocious.

He can't hold up the ball or link play, lacks pace and strength, doesn't have an eye for a pass and is seemingly shot of confidence. He has something like 7 goals in his last 25 games.

Where on earth does the confidence that he'll perform with us come from?

Agree with this. When was the last time a relatively limited striker whose one outstanding attribute was his finishing was succesful in the PL? Most likely someone playing in a two man partnership up top, which no top team has deployed in the modern PL for a while.

For me he is a ball to feet player, without having enough strength, skill or pace to lay the ball off consistently or turn his defender and create/attack space for himself to get a shot off. In a more tactical, slower paced league (Serie A) or a more creative league (Liga) he might have more success as teams are coached better in their link up between strikers and midfielders that intelligent movement might be rewarded with a goalscoring opportunities. Even the best ones across the continent like Morientes, Forlan, Shevchenko, Falcao, Higuain amongst others struggled to succeed here (and they all had more skill and intelligent movement than Piatek)

Obviously no one should expect him to be as good as those players, but for me it also means it's hard to see him as an impact sub either, as it's not like we're a team that constantly sets up gilt edged opportunities for a box predator to put away anyways, and strikers like him who require scoring to keep their confidence up will most likely be of little use once his role becomes that of an impact sub once Kane is back in the side.

Surely he'd rather sit on the bench at Milan than go to Hertha. Unless he really wants to be coached by Jurgen Klinsmann.

Berlin is on an ambitious spending spree right now and it would be very close to his home country, so I would not rule that one out.

Still I wouldnt be too disappointed if he does not come to us IF we get another striker. His profile does not really convince me. I really think we should get someone who can deal with Tobys long balls. Guys who shoot at every chance in the box we have already (more or less succesful though).
