Lack of creativity...will it cost us?

Which is about 115 yards x 74 yards. And the rule says it's only if the club has the space to do so. Our pitch is still the same size it's always been because we haven't got the space to make it larger.

That's an extra 500 odd sq yards which we don't have.

This new rule brings the epl into line with Europe. It does allow for clubs to have special permission if physically this is not possible. But any ground improvements will not be allowed unless the pitch is brought up to standard size. In addition those with larger playing surfaces need to reduce them to the set size.

Creativity is the missing ingredient which can take us up a level. This might come from midfield or as in the case of several clubs, especially Man Utd, from exceptional strikers. We are good enough for the top four but if our aim is higher then we need a special talent or two...imo

I dont think we lack creativity as much as its being made out, as we have players who can play a killer ball to create chances, and have done this on occasions this seasons. What we lack if movment at times, we can be in the right place but no one moves into the spaces to get these balls played to them.

But i wouldnt say no to a midfielder or striker with that extra spark.

...is this still open for debate...??

Again, we were totally devoid of ideas through the centre, and for those of you satisfied with the threat we pose from out wide being sufficient, hopefully today will have shattered that illusion..

Why is Levy suddenly going to spend now? Surely the past 6 transfer windows have shown us we don't address our glaring problems!

We had creativity and pace last season with Modric Van De Vaart Lennon and Bale against QPR and still lost.

Lack of movement up front is the problem.

Defoe has started to come deep again which makes him easy to defend against - does it every season he starts off strongly.

The striker had to come deep (442 aganist 433) both Ade and Defoe rotated that role pretty well against a three man midfeld it had to be done....more a problem was the service from Bale and Lennon it just wasn't there...the only real chance came from a well engineered move between Defoe and Ade brilliant save on both counts.

I could only see the last 25 mins but we had the same problem with Parker that we had towards the end of last season.

He was working hard and generally doing well but quite often he'd come to the ball, make himself an easy option and then play the easy pass. This can slow down attacks, inhibit our ability to spread/shift play and marginalize other midfielders - Dembele seemed to be loitering deep in the middle, when, given how play was compressed, we'd probably prefer to have him on the ball. (although people have said he played poorly and was being closely marked)

But still, Parker can be so dominant and it's not always a good thing. Last season we had Modric and VdV who knew how to hold their own but Sandro was completely overshadowed whenever they played together. Dembele?

We started with both VdV and modric vs qpr last season and taraabt got a red card, yet looked worse then than today. So no its not all about creativity, we just didn't look up for it today.

I was thinking the same thing nothing against Parker but for me he holds onto the ball way to long a couple of circular pivits slows us down when we need to counter quickly with an opening pass.

I was puffed cheaked when Sandro went off really gutted...his been a monster for us he wins that ball if not better than paker and gives it earlier IMO, his been the spring board to our break attacks.

Saying that though QPR were not willing to open up ,they just played in lines strangling space and the game to 0-0 draw.

Said from the beginning of the season we are slightly short in the creativity department.

We are going really well but scraping out wins. Arsenal meanwhile are in crisis and still breathing down our necks! IMO they still have a better chance of 4th than us, unless we get some creativity in midfield/striker

The real question is what will it cost us. 3rd? Definitely. 4th? Possibly. If we had a decent creative midfielder we could be pushing for 3rd comfortably rather than looking over our shoulders. I know noone likes doing business in January but we need to act soon or we run the risk of blowing our biggest chance of being a title challenging team in nearly 20 years.

We really do need somethin extra in the final 3rd, over rely on our wingers to create and score. Defoe traditionally is useless post christmas also

Alas I am fairly confident that Levy wont be purchasing any expensive players this window, just lots of winks and smiles from ITK and alot of angry voices on here come Feb 1st
