To be fair Lamela is still injured and if there was no more space left then Jansen is the obvious choice given his lack of goals and Llorente's arrival.

Well according to the bookies odds we're gonna be out on our ear very quickly anyway-so Lamela wont be ready and Janssen can relax a little more

Feel sad for Janssen, like they are trying to force him out.

Why are the club trying to "force" him out?

He would have been told in no uncertain terms if he didn't have any future at the Club in the same way as Kabul, Lennon, Capoue, Townsend, etc.

Poch was never going to carry three strikers for one place in the CL squad, that was obvious.

There's no point in including Lamela. He's not going to be fit in time for the first few group matches.

As for Janssen, there's no room for 3 out-and-out strikers in the squad. Son has more positional flexibility and Llorente has relevant experience.

So it has sod-all to do with "forcing him out" and a lot to do with "trying to win the matches".

Includes Sissoko, excludes Janssen.

So Spanish international Cesc Fabregas qualifies in the U.K as a 'home grown' player, but England midfielder Eric Dier does not?
That's the rules. It's not about nationality, but where you played football as a kid. Fabregas came to the UK when he was 16. Dier played very little footie in the UK as a teenager.

Can you bet on a player never playing for a club again? If so wish I'd gone in on Lamela a while back, getting farcical. This is effectively acknowledging he's out for a year and a half minimum

I agree entirely. But as a player I'd feel quite hurt.

Shame. I'd have liked to see Jansen in there, too. All it takes is an injury to Kane and we'll look short again.
Surely Foyth isn't going to get game time. Even with injuries to Jan & Toby, we'd play Dier, Sanchez, Davies, and possibly even Wanyama & Aurier.
Maybe he can fill in as an emergency centre forward:)
