For what its worth I have always thought him a handy little player and would be ok with him coming to us.

Personally I don’t understand why people are so dismissive of trossard as a replacement for Lucas. He’s Brightons best player and would easily give us more effective options within the squad.
the agents antics are certainly an embarrassment (for him) and could prove costly.
It’s hard for those not in the know to understand who else we are making a move for to compare against though.
Thuram?
Zaniolo?
Maddison?

I’d take them all over trossard but would be dissatisfied if we turned down the chance to sign trossard just to stick with what we have

We aren’t getting any more game time out of Moura, I’d mutually cancel his last couple of months and let him go back to brazil with a big half time send off for him.
Trossard coming in takes Moura’s squad number, gives us immediate cover for left, right and centre with a player who has EPL experience and hasn’t had too many injury issues in the past.
He’d hit the ground running which is exactly what we need.

I like him as a player, but I would be interested to see what sorts of terms he would be signing for if this were something we were seriously considering. A lower-ish wage, a 2-3 year contract maybe with a club option or other things like that to decrease the risk could make this interesting, IMO. I just fear that if we did this, he would be on everyone's list of players to improve upon in the summer of 2024, and if he's on a 4-5 year deal with significant wage, we're gonna struggle to move him leaving us back where we always are - struggling to move on a squad player so we can bring in someone who can push us to a new level.

You’d never offer a 4 yr deal.
2 with an option at this point based on age and the nonsense from his agent.
They hold very few cards in a negotiation right now

If we brought him in I would want another attacker in with more of a goal threat too. Gil has done well but I still think we could improve on him this window. If it was only Trossard it would be disappointing.

I'm a little worried Brighton are a system club. They just play brilliant football and are well run top to bottom. But the players themselves all seem very replaceable and they seem to look better than they are (as individual talents) because the team is so excellent.

On the topic of attacking options I wouldn't be surprised to see us make a move for Gordon. By all accounts Paratici absolutely loves him, he'd also cost nowhere near as much as we were quoted in the summer. Everton fans seem thoroughly pissed off with him and he doesn't start every game. Plus Everton could probably do with 25-30m.

The problem is he isn’t all that good. Most Everton fans don’t rate him at all. Mind you; there isn’t much to rate up there atm.

We should wait until summer for Gordon. If (when?) they go down, he'll be desperate to get out

And this is the exact reason we are where we are. Stuck trying to move on players that were never the required level or were the wrong fit and "could do a job".
Totally agree.

But playing devil's advocate, what if its Conte that really wants him?

Player in his peak season, very tallented on the ball, can assist and score. Ship Lucas out and bring him in. He adds value 100% while Lucas is completely finished.

Trossard for Moura short term makes some sense, but does he then become the problem if he is not good enough and only a stop gap, one we possibly cannot shift in a yr or two and we are back to square one?
Sooner we realize that you buy right/clever once, possibly little more expensive, rather that buying 3 or 4 times on the cheap, which in the long term is more expensive and detracts from good of the team.
