Their fans aren't happy which tells you all you need to know.

I think OGS is good for the players, they obviously like him but in terms of pushing for titles or getting over the line he's not that guy.

Just imagine what they’d be capable of with someone like Conte in charge. They’ve got bags of cash and lots of pull.

agreed. Kinda weird to extend him. They can just let him manage this year and decide either keep him later on for longer or pivot to Conte.

It’s a strange one, personally I don’t rate him but you can’t really argue with a 2nd place finish and Europa Lge final. Compare that to where they probably should be (4-7) and it’s a good season for them

He's been in for 2 years and hasn't won anything with them, if that was anyone else than a club legend he would have been sacked by now. Also he's been backed massively since he's been there, you can't be losing against Villareal and Sevilla in the Europa League and be happy at the progress.

Has he been backed massively though? Last season they spent £35m on Donnie van de Beek and got Cavani on a free.

Compare that to:
  • Chelsea - Havertz (£72m), Werner (£47), Chilwell (£45m), Ziyech (£36m)
  • City - Dias (£61m), Ake (£40m), Torres (£20m)
  • Liverpool - Jota (£40m), Thiago (£20m)
  • Hell even we spent more on Lo Celso (£29m), Reguilon (£27m), Doherty (£15m), Holjberg (£15m), Rodon (£10m)
Utd aren’t the financial powerhouse they once were (even if their wage bill is still higher than most).

They also signed AWB (£45m), Maguire (£80m), Fernandes (£50m) and some other players during his time there.

With Sancho and Varane coming in he really needs to win something next season.

CL football seems to be the main target for the owners. As long as that money keeps coming in the owners will be happy.

They fall more into the ‘back in a fighting chance of top four’ rather than ‘expect to win the title’ kind of players though ?‍♂️

Not necessarily the title, but once again zero silverware would certainly raise questions. Especially with the squad he has next season.

Compare his time to when he got the job not just last season - they spent £211m the season before thus taking their spending to £286m in 2 seasons with him in charge. They've had a stab at the Europa League (twice) and failed and been in 4 semi's and a final and failed to win anything, this isn't progress and a sign of a manager who will take them to the next level.

There’s only so much silverware to go around and City, Liverpool & Chelsea all have stronger squads than them. Admittedly I’m biased but I would even say that if we keep Kane and complete the Romero signing then we have a stronger squad than them too

Not really, with players like AWB, Varane, Maguire, Shaw, Pogba, Fernandes, Rashford, Cavani, Sancho etc. he has more than enough to (finally) win something. And certainly their fans demand at least some silverware next season after all those fuckups in recent years, there are no excuses anymore.

United are one of the biggest clubs in world football and the expectations are always high. And rightly so with such a squad.

Or…. He took over a team in 6th place and got them into 3rd & 2nd along with a European final. Like I said I’m not a fan of his but credit where it’s due

Well yes with serious financial backing that's the point, one doesn't happen without the other.

The argument isn't about where credit is due or not it's about whether he is good enough to get them over the line to win...anything, so far the evidence suggests that he isn't.
