And Ashworth as well….

Wonder what the Geordies make of all this . Loosing quite likely a top behind the scenes person, possibly losing their best player in the summer to PSG, their captain very happy to go to Germany, and unable to bring in new players.

According to a national paper:-
Manchester United may not need a huge squad overhaul in the summer, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe reported to have been impressed by four of their younger squad members - Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo and Diogo Dalot - that he can build around.

If he has any say in football matters with the people he's trying to get into the club- they're doomed.

The way he went down in the first half was just ridiculous, these guys need to stop doing what they are doing and remember that football is still a contact game!

You didn't think Big Jim got to be a billionaire by spending his own money, did you?
Ineos acquired the country's last remaining Chlorine plant at Runcorn, vital to the operation of the water industry, and then announced in 2003 that it would have to close it unless the government contributed to the cost of modernising it. (You can't import bulk Chlorine because it's too dangerous, so Ineos knew that had the government by the balls.) The government duly stumped up the money, and has been doing it ever since.

I wonder what the odds are that the billionaire owners of one of the richest clubs in the world will manage to leverage government money to build their new stadium.
It's a well worn path for Ratcliffe and he's going to have a go at walking again by the sound of things.

All under the guise of ‘levelling up the north’, let’s not forget how Citeh came to acquire their stadium initially from the public purse until their owners got absolutely fleeced by Manchester Council.
If you want to talk about levelling up then a second national stadium should be built in the Midlands, not in Manchester and certainly not just because Ratcliffe has decided to put a few quid into his boyhood club and doesn’t want to finance it himself.
You decided to jump in, you sort out your own financing, just like other clubs have had to do when they’ve built their own stadiums.

He’s a big Tory donor, so I’d say it’s more likely if they stay in power.

I just don’t think the public money is there for this kind of project though. The powers that be already built a national stadium in Manchester, but it wasn’t a commercially viable prospect so they ended up selling it to Man City.

Unless Manchester's bidding to host the Olympics and it is part of some massive regeneration program it isn't going to happen. There's no real win for the government in supporting it but plenty of ammo for the opposition - e.g. got enough money to build a stadium for the 5th richest club in the world but not for the NHS. Also, the FA won't want a national stadium of the North. It relies heavily on Club Wembley revenue so isn't going to support something that'll take fixtures away from Wembley.

Would the FA even countenance the idea when they are heavily invested in Wembley and also sold those lifetime seats to punters who were told all Finals and England games would be hosted there? They even play the semis there now because it’s a cash cow.

Levy would be the first in line to shoot that idea down.
He had to fight tooth and nail for our stadium, there's no way he'd sit back and allow United to get theirs part-funded by the bloody government.

I tell you what, if that became even whispered as a possibility, I'd go full Scouse!
Petitions, T-shirts, Talkshite phone-ins, I'd even create a Twitter account to complain about it! 🤣

United are so annoying they have been so shit and are three points behind us. They have wasted millions and yet look like they have a really talented group underneath the shit.

i hope it all falls apart
