They're 8th, only goal difference away from occupying a European spot and still in the Europa League. Yet West Ham fans are going on as if they're struggling like Everton and Sheff Utd. The delusion within that fanbase is almost at Liverpool's level.

To be fair Tottenham were 4th when we sacked Conte. If you don't enjoy watching your team any more you're going to want a change.

But Conte didn't win anything. Would we have been as disgruntled if Conte won us a European trophy?

I think probably West Ham see teams like Brighton playing progressive football, or a club like Villa now challenging for the top four, and they feel like they’re being shortchanged. If Brighton can play such attractive football, why can’t they? If Villa can fight for the top four, why can’t they? Why should they settle for dull football to finish 7th or 8th?

It’s true that winning that European cup was historic for them. But that kind of achievement only buys a coach so much time, especially with huge style of football being an aggravating factor (we sacked Pochettino shortly after reaching the final of the Champions League). Anyway, winning a trophy can also raise expectations.

At Old Trafford last week they sung:

He only kicked a cat
He only kicked a cat
At least he's not a rapist
At least he's not a rapist
At least he's not a rapist
He only kicked a cat

credit where it's due

Some probably would and even more so the trophy West Ham won, as they see it beneath us as a club.

Moyes' situation at West Ham has been really amusing for me.

They never took to him or his football but somehow he kept coming back from the dead.

19/20 season

Brought Moyes back in to save them from a potential relagation under Pellegrini.

Won 2 games in his first 11 and their fans were already wanting him out again.
But then he won a few at end of season to keep them up and the owners rewarded him for it.

2020/21

Actually had a good season and qualified for Europe.

21/22

Somehow got up to 4th midway through the season but then collapsed to finish 7th by only winning 4 out of their last 14.

Also managed to get to the semi-final of the Europa which probably saved them from sacking him as the club did look like they wanted to change direction but probably felt they couldnt fire someone for 7th and a semi final.

22/23

Had a crap domestic campaign by finishing 15th but Moyes wins the Conference League to bring them their first trophy.
If he hadn't won it, he surely would have been fired.

He did the exact same thing at Everton.
Good season, followed by poor season etc etc.

It's cause his football is not progressive so after a while players get tired of it. But if he is afforded the chance to bring in new players, he wants, he can start a new cycle of shit football.

I was working for Slavia Prague last year and was told that when Soucek and Coufal went back to Prague, they watched some traning sessions and said that Moyes' training was really outdated and uninteresting.

I hope they have a good end to the season so that they decide to keep him on

To be fair watching Moyesball week in week out will make you feel like you’re in a relegation battle.
