I don't know if I misheard Evra he was in the middle of crying and having a breakdown but he said and I quote from memory that within a month of Alexis signing for United he told his agent to get him out. Quite a telling comment if I heard him correctly. Sounded like Evra was alluding to a massive organisational problem at the club

Sanchez actually admitted that himself the other day

The thing with Pogba for me is he seems better in a 4-3-3 with a defensive midfielder and a box to box midfielder alongside him to do the grunt work - like when he had Herrera and Matic alongside him.

Since they’ve bought in Fernandes, it’s been back to 4-2-3-1 with Pogba and a defensive midfielder player alongside him in the two, which I’m not sure suits him.

Then they bought in Dawson... ahem de Beek... during the summer and I just couldn’t see where he’d fit with them already cramming Pogba and Fernandes in the team.

de Beek should have signed for us as would have fitted in more.

Let's all wonder what's going on at United? Meltdown. That's what. They're not a happy bunch.

So they didn’t really address their main weaknesses did they. Cavani will be decent for them I reckon, and Telles is a good wing back, but everyone will still be able to exploit their slow central defence (in both mind and pace.)

They‘ve dropped a bollock this window, think it’s only a matter of time before OGS gets the sack now.

All signings seem like panic buys for them. If they really wanted cavani why not get him in the door earlier, he was a free.

I bet Woodward is itching to ditch Ole in favour of Pochettino. Shifting the blame and throwing another coat of paint over the crumbling plaster is right up his street.

Poch would be mad to go there under the current set up, can’t do anything but tarnish his reputation imo.

I want Ole to get sacked when the season finishes in May 2022 (because boring TV rights reasons), but after this I'm convinced he won't last this season.

They didn’t seem to have a plan, aside from getting Sancho. You’d think a club of their size and stature would have gone into this window with several targets in mind for all their weaknesses. I didn’t hear them linked with any strikers and then suddenly they get Cavani on deadline day. It reeks of an appeasement buy to butter up the fans. They clearly wanted a left back but lost out to us on their key target and settled for Telles. There was no big push for them to get a centre back or a defensive midfielder which is the two positions I’d address first in that team.

Just seems an absolute shambles.

Agree, but I think he'll do it.

Yeah I think so too, I’m not sure what job would be best for him tbh. Maybe PSG, but Tuchel seems settled there. Reckon he’d do well at Dortmund, or back in Spain too. If he’s got sense, he’ll wait for the City job to come available, though I’m not certain they’d go for him.

Anyone going to United will inherit a squad with lots of problems and a boardroom that seems incapable of dealing with them. It’s a poison chalice.

Man U after Fergie are a bit of a poisoned chalice, they ruin every managers rep. Moyes is now a bit of a laughing stock, LVG painted as a daft old man & Jose trying to rebuild his rep with us. Poch should stay clear but I doubt he will if approached

United are on a bit of a precipice and could fall miles behind the top 4. They have combination of:
  • Bad owners who treat the club as a cash cow.
  • A hapless chief executive who cannot put proper infrastructure in place or get deals done.
  • A manager who is out of his depth and not very good tactically.
  • An archaic stadium that needs investment and pales in comparison to newer stadium at rivals (Etihad, Emirates, NWHL).
  • A misconstrued sense of entitlement (which is re-enforced every time an ex-player says they go should and buy Kane).
If the owners had half a clue they would...
  1. Sack the Chief Exec.
  2. Get the new Chief Exec to sack Solskjaer.
  3. Employ a Director of Football with a long term strategy.
  4. Hire the best coach they can get - someone like Naglesmann or Pochettino.
  5. Take the next few windows to fix their squad by bringing in the right characters.
They do not need to spend a lot on players, just replace their 'expensive superstars' who are weak mentally with more suitable characters. They need to get rid of players like De Gea, Martial and Pogba, buy a new CB to lead the team, buy a new midfield general to give them a spine. Buy a proper hard working CF to lead the line. Then their talented players will shine (Wan Bissaka, Rashford, McTomminay, Greenwood, De Beek, Fernandes etc.).

I have never rated Solskjaer as a manager, and I personally do not think CFs make particularly good managers. I did a quick look at current PL managers and a few notable others and CFs turned managers are quite rare for a reason...
